SPOILERS

Well, today, I finally got to see Rambo 4. And I'd love to blab on a bit about it, if that's ok. I gotta say this film was one helluva big shit fight for John. He seems to enjoy the odds being not stacked in his favour. Which makes it all the better viewing for us. I really enjoyed this movie. From start to finish, it was gratuitous violence Rambo style, and plenty of it. This is one of the most brutal movies that I've seen in quite some time. And by far, the most graphic of the quadrilogy. The graphic horrors of war are vividly brought to the screen in lovely bloody red chunks. And there was plenty of that flying about. I like my war movies, and I like them with plenty of gore and grit. And I have always loved the First Blood series. Rambo 4 did not disappoint me at all.

The story was pretty much to be expected along those lines. People go into the NONO zone, and good ole Rambo has to put his expendable ass on the line once again. He's used to that. And he's damn fine at killing people. What was it that Agamemon said about Achilles in the movie, TROY? Oh yes, he said - "That man was born to end lives." I feel that the same can also be said about Sly in this film and the other three. My God, when he first drew his bow, I couldn't help but think of Legolas from LOTR. I've not seen bowmanship that fast and that accurate since LOTR. lol

He's come full circle...finally. He's a killing machine. Only one notch down from the Terminator. "Live for nothing, or die for something." This movie had it all. Decapitations, limbs chopped off. Babies thrown into burning shacks [damn]. Heads shot off. Infact, this film had probabaly more violence, gore and sheer gruesomeness than alot of solid horror movies. When he got behind that jeep mounted machine gun. It was like watching a bat out of hell going crazy. Talk about unloading and making instant sushi body parts. One scene in particular above all else. The shot where he rips to ribbons the entire back of that trucks occupants. There must have been at least 20 soldiers. And they all got shot to absolute shit.

END SPOILERS

I'm gonna have to give this movie a solid 9/10. I had an excellent time at IMAX. Sly still has got what it takes, and Rambo 4 is testament to that fact. At what, 61 years of age? He is fucking awesome! Bruce kicked ass in DH4. And now Sly kicks [shreds] ass in the 4th and final installment to Rambo: First Blood. If they change their minds and ever decided to make Rambo 5, I am so there.

I can safely say this is the most violent movie I have ever seen.

I haven't seen the other RAMBO movies, but this one was pretty damn entertaining (although I did cringe a couple of times).

What impressed me most was Stallone as director... the guy sure knows how to stage a visceral action sequence. I really don't understand why people give him so much crap... he's made a lot of duds, and he's not the greatest actor, but you can tell he knows about film, not just improvising as he goes.

Hey, he did win an Oscar and ROCKY is a pretty damn good film, (watched it again recently) it just gets a bad rep because of its dumbass sequels (except for the last one, which also rocked).

Anyway, back on topic... RAMBO was a gloriously violent throwback to those old-school 80s action films where the plot was incredibly basic and just an excuse for action and violence. I sure hope Sly makes it back to the big leagues again, he sure deserves it.

Hell yeah man! I think its great that our childhood heroes are back with a vengeance! And now we get a 65 year old Indy kicking ass in the 4th installment of indiana jones?? I love this whole "old school action heroes coming back to show the new school bitches who's boss" concept going on right now. Reminds me of my childhood

IMO this is my favorite Rambo right next to number the second one. It was alooooot better than I thought and it's defiently the most gory and violent of the series, actually of any movie I've seen recently. Kudos to Stallone for making a suprisingly worthy sequel. There are times when you just crave "junk food" where you dont feel like watching Michael Clayton and just wanna chill with a pizza and six pack; this is that movie.

7/10.

Does anyone but me get a little annoyed with the title RAMBO?

The second installment was called RAMBO. With the added section "First Blood Part II".
It was even more weird to name the third one RAMBO III. When it's actually FIRST BLOOD PART III.

Then the fourth Rambo movie is once again titled RAMBO. Odd.

I believe this is how they are titled. And yes, I get confused by the names too a bit. And that was 5 minutes of bliss, Drugs n Hugs.

- Rambo: First Blood Part
- Rambo: First Blood Part II
- Rambo: First Blood Part III
- Rambo: First Blood Part IV

But since I first saw First Blood. I've called them like this;

First Blood
Rambo 2
Rambo 3
Rambo 4

Much easier for me. :D

Yeah, they are NOW titled "Rambo" before all of them. I doubt FIRST BLOOD was titled as such originally, though.

Much like RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK being changed to INDIANA JONES AND... several years later. To keep the theme going.
Or STAR WARS becomes EPISODE IV, etc...
Originally it was just called STAR WARS and the opening credit was "Episode IV" obviously.

http://spikedhumor.com/articles/142809/John-Rambo-Battle-Sequence.htmlNice weapon/munition. Wow, someone really sat down and counted the death toll?

Nice clip, can't wait to get the DVD (no chance to get to see it in a cinema at a time I am able to see it there)

- Rambo: First Blood Part
- Rambo: First Blood Part II
- Rambo: First Blood Part III
- Rambo: First Blood Part IVCan't rememebr to have heard here that titlels.
I only know them as Rambo (later Rambo I) to Rambo IV (or John Rambo). On the DVD are partly titiles added like Rambo II - Der Auftrag (means the assignment/task/order....). Sometimes it is of benfit to live in a 'foreign' country ;)

this movie was insane....8/10
