When it comes to his use of split screen, what film of his has/is the most famous example of this?
Oh yeah and please recommend DePalma's absolute best films. Thank-you.

Dressed to Kill
Body Double
Snake Eyes
Femme Fatale
Sisters
Those are the best that I've seen.

Carlito's Way & The Untouchables are my favorite of De Palma's.

I'd say, Carlito's Way has to be my favorite De Palma.
Scarface is always a close second.
I remember -but don't hold me to this- that Obsession utilizes his patented "split screen" technique a lot. Although I hate that movie.
He has made some real shitty movies over the years though.

Carrie probably had his finest use of split-screen during the prom scene.
My favorite of his is probably Carlito's Way, but it's almost a throw-up between that Scarface, The Untouchables and maybe Blow Out. The guy's been in a slump for the last 15 years and he steals incredibly from Hitchcock (Dressed To Kill is an insult to any audience well-versed in cinema, in the same sense as Disturbia). But, hey, some tribute bands would suck if they started writing their own stuff.

Carlito's Way
The Untouchables
Scarface
Femme Fatale (I know, a lot do not like it, but I love it)
I liked the opening scene of Snake Eyes, but I didn't like N. Cage character in that movie, it was too 'loud' to let me forget about it during the movie + other stuff, so only 'love' for the opening scene.
Liked also some details/ideas from Mission to Mars, even if there are more details I did not like ( especially the aliens and some 'sugared' moods/scenes ... :D most of the cast )
There are only 2 prequels I am interested in / hopeful about, one of it is Capone Rising, mainly because he will be the director and he did The Untouchables, so he could know the story's 'feeling'.

Carlito's Way is his best. by far for me.
just saw Snake Eyes, the opening is cool but the rest is pretty ridiculous.

Carlito's Way, Scarface and The Untouchables are my fav films respectively.
If my memory serves me correct The Black Dahlia had some split screen moments.....maybe

Honestly, I really cant stand the majority of this guy's films. Especially the gawd awful Black Dahila.
I will say that Carrie is a badass flick. So I would recommend that. It has a cool split screen segment near the end.

I've never ever been able to get into The Untouchables. I don't know why. I just can't. I think it's his worst movie.
Carlito's Way is a kick ass movie. Scarface is good, if too long. The Black Dahlia is a disappointment, but I still enjoyed it's style and the film did have some remarkable cinematography.

Oh no doubt on the cinematography in The Black Dahlia. That was quite impressive. Too bad the film wasnt up to par with it.
I also forgot about Carlito's Way. For some reason I was thinking Oliver Stone directed that film but yeah that film is entertaining (though a bit dated).
And as far as The Untouchables goes, I havent seen it in a while but I thought it was kind of lame. They could of made it more "grittier" because afterall it took place in the Roaring 20s of Chi-Town.
Scarface just annoys the piss out of me. The soundtrack is beyond dated and the acting is ridiculously hammy.

From the early 70s to the early 90s DePalma was arguably one of the Greatest Of All Time: Sisters, Phantom Of The Paradise, Carrie, Dressed To Kill, Scarface, The Untouchables, and many more modern classics. Then, starting with the godawful Mission To Mars (still the WORST movie I've ever suffered thru in a theatre), he's been on a near-irreversible slide, coinciding with the maligned propaganda film Redacted (the Triumph Of The Will for the far left). If he can come back from THAT, I really don't know. Such a shame...:(

Oh shit I forgot about Mission to Mars. I dug that film quite a bit. I also think his entry into the Mission Impossible series is the best.

Touche. That movie is horrible. I recant that statement. But I still think the movie is bad.

Personally, I like his first 2 films (and Robert De Niro's as well), the 60s counterculture comedy "Greetings" and its sequel "Hi, Mom!".
"Sisters" and "Phantom of the Paradise" are also good, and, "Wise Guys" is pretty underrated compared to most 80s goofball comedies.

The Untouchables was really good but Black Dahlia was one of the most awful movies I've ever seen.

My fave has always been The Fury. That movie still creeps me out. But yeah, I honestly fell asleep while watching Black Dahlia.

I've loved most of his films, Raising Cain was awesome, Phantom of the Paradise is one of my favourites of his though. One of the only musicals I like.
