I'm watching the scene where Indy is lining up the stick for the sun angle to hit it just right to reveal something...and it just brings me back to the childhood when I first saw this... that piece of music is so...scary

John Williams is the man known to have scared the shit out of me with his music in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

damn this movie rocks.

It is amazing what music can do to convey a feeling. It can definitely make or break a scene. And yes...great movie.

Yes, I agree. And what's even more scary is when the monkey ate those bad dates. To this day I haven't been able to eat them after seeing the effects they have. Just the thought of them makes me want to go take a dump.

It's amazing how much John Williams guides our emotions throughout each Spielberg movie...I mean really. ET, Close Encounters, Raiders, Jaws...the music sets the tone for the picture...in a way it seems like the movie is built on top of the music...like it's serving as a base to work off of.

Of course the downside of Williams is that it's highly manipulative - and all of Spielberg's early movies definitely manipulate your emotions...regressive films will do it every time :)

But Spielberg still made some outstanding movies - without a doubt.

My fave Williams score is still the one for DePalma's The Fury. It was so wonderfully cheesy and still creepy at the same time.
