I didn't google this information or anything. So I was trying to figure out which film has the longest movie end credits. I think it could be LOTR. I'm rewatching the extended editions, and I was like WTF? when I reached the end of the first movie. My Dvd player counter said roughly 26 minutes remaining. That is a long-ass time. It has credits around 26 minutes long. That's an entire episode of M.A.S.H. :D

I was thinking LOTR as well. We saw ROTK after eating mushrooms and started to stay through the credits, and couldn't stop laughing.

Doing a quick google search didn't bring up anything, though I only hit it with one query (longest+ending+credits), but I did find this and thought it was interesting:

"Napoleon Dynamite features one of the longest ending credits in history... because it lists each and every of the 181 student extras." - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0374900/trivia

Who woulda thunk that one?

Yeah I think its probably the extended edition of LOTR - I think that after the main credits they list all members of the LOTR fan-club or something.

LOTR probably does, but I remember waiting a hell of a long time to see the after credit footage of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.

At the beginning of a film: THE FOG (1980) and THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS.

At the end of a film: STAR WARS, STARMAN and SUPERMAN went on forever!

Beside LotR extended edition (fan-club) I know only one really long credit:

Outlaw (2007) directed by Nick Love.

The production team / he got the idea to let fans 'participate' at the financing of the movie, each of them got named too at the credits (I think as producers), at least on the DVD
Plus everyone got T-Shirts /Sweatshirts, a signed DVD + an job as an extra in the movie as well, special access to video-/diaries uploaded in the net during shooting and so on.

terrestrial - you reminded me of one, and I think this one will eventually take the cake -

So far they have almost 9200 producers. Anyone can donate, so if you want to get credited alongside Spike Jones, Keifer Sutherland, Stephen Colbert, and well, thousands of others, just give a donation.

I'd heard something along the lines of almost 2 hours anticipated for the credits when it finally reaches its funding goal. It's pretty cool, but no doubt, doesn't meant qualifications to compete in this thread, but I still thought you guys would think it was cool.

I remember having to sit through what seemed like forever while waiting for the credits to end on Matrix Reloaded and the POTC sequels.

The opening credits of Friday the 13th: Part 2 are ridiculously fucking long and boring.

I had forgotten about the POTC movies [on purpose lol]. Matrix has some lon-ass ending credits too. Mushies at the movies? lol, Bubba. Is Outlaw starring Sean Bean, terr? I like that movie, and I own it on dvd. Don't recall Friday the 13th part 2 opening credits at all, der. Which maybe a good thing. lol The original Fog, yes, great classic Jc movie. Hated the remake. Ick! Superman was long yes, but loved the score as well. So yeah.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King by far.

Now that I think about it, doesn't the first have members of the LOTR fan club in the credits? I remember listening to PJ's commentary and it went on during the credits and ended around the A's (last names alphabetically) and they went on for a while. A LONG while.

Ditto on Matrix Reloaded. Just for that Revolutions "cookie" at the end. Bad idea it was to see that one at a midnight showing.

Aren't the credits for Clerks 2 fairly long - for a non-special effects flick - with all of those MySpace names at the end?

Exactly. Me too, as all other worldwide available DVD's with him too... and some more :o . But please do not get a false impression, he is not the only actor I own all DVD's, I know I am nuts :D
Strangely especially some Brits do not like the movie as much as I do.... I think they are afraid that foreigners get an 'false' impression about the UK. Interestingly the script is based on at least hundreds on examples (or were it thousands, forgot the details :o ), Nick Love asked via the media the ppl (papers and net) for sending in their stories ~ 1 or 2 years before starting the movie/script.
