Yes, high-quality photo printer paper is a must.

That's a good question, actually. The one I did is a huge size. I need to know the specs and size of a standard DVD so I can shrink it to proper dimensions.

3225 x 2156 pixels is full size for a standard DVD case . if you take it to Kinko's or any print shop, that will fill an 8x10 and be just the right size when you cut down the white edges....

I just use coverXP, sometimes you may have to adjust the dimensions a couple mm on each axis, and make sure you have some high quality photo paper.
3240x2175 are the dimensions I use, which is 300 dpi.

I've printed several covers like that straight through Photoshop, if that's the software you're using, check with a Print Preview and that should give you a good idea, it's in fact better than using any other software.

Photoshop indeed. Thanks a lot. I'll see how it goes.

Heads up to anyone printing out custom covers!
3240p x 2175p are the exact dimensions, but I had to print it three times before I noticed that you need to set the paper type to "no borders". Otherwise, you'll print the right size but it'll clip out because of the edges.
I printed one out, size is perfect. Thanks a lot, Jonathan.
