Anyone listen to the Deer Hunter commentary?

I'm talking about the Deer Hunter Legacy Edition commentary by the cinematographer and film journalist?
I'm thinking of doing a paper on Deer Hunter and i just through watching the movie again but i don't think i have the time or patience to sit through 3 hours of commentary if it's all technical talk. I wanna know if there's any analyzing of the film going on in the commentary.

It's almost all technical talk.
Very dry, and not too informative unless you're all about learning what lenses/lighting and shit he did for the flick.
