I enjoy good movies in general, I don't give a fuck what genre they are but I usually watch comedy and horror I guess. Love westerns too. And sci-fi. And pretty much everything on the list if it's a good movie...

I'm not really partial to any genre, but if I had to choose one, it would be westerns. I love their general scope, their look and the characters. And the obligatory shootout or Mexican standoff is always a plus.

My preference for a certain genre has been changing a lot lately in the past couple of years. In 2006, I had a major hard on for Film Noir; in 2007, I was obsessed with horror (my first favorite genre); this year, I've been more partial to melodramas (goddamn you Douglas Sirk) than anything else. Depending on my mood, this decision often changes.

But, I think that overall, the mystery/thriller genre is what approximates my taste in films the most. Most of the time, I love nothing more than a really GOOD suspense to keep me on the edge of my seat, akin to Hitchcock.

Horror -- don't let my low ratings for a lot of those films fool you, when the bad are really bad, there's that, but when the good are really good/excellent, then we have some of the finest contributions to cinema. The best in the genre, unfortunately, is watered down by the remakes or the crappy Roth films, but every time I see something like The Mist or The Descent or The Others and still get shaken to my core, I'm positive there are still talented filmmakers out in the world who feel like I do about fright flicks and keep on pushing for more fantastic ways to scare me.

Well said, Lazy Boy. Horror would be my second favorite (and on some days, my fav) genre of all time.

action- I just love to sit back and not deal with the drama of life some good examples: above the law, operation condor, big trouble in little china, hard boiled

horror- being afraid in a film with killer suspence is too awesome.
halloween, suspiria, lost highway

sci-fi- that's the thing sci-fi is already happening right now and the future is always thought about, great stuff- T2, GITS, 2001 space odyssey.

comedy- who doesn't love a good laugh
young frankenstein, spinal tap

kung fu- no explanation
36th chamber of shoalin, drunken master 2, enter the dragon

I pretty like some movies from each major genre in the movie indusrty but for the pole I voted for action/adventure but according to my dvdspot sats. Comdies make up most of my collection of dvd's.

Sci-fi by far, but only when done right.

Otherwise....I dunno. Maybe westerns.

I was tempted to go with Drama because 'Crime' would probably fit into that category and I'm a big fan of crime movies (don't think I've seen one that I'd give less than a 7 to).

However due to the awesome LOTR trilogy, 80's action movies like Die Hard/Lethal Weapon and the James Bond movies (that all initially created and developed my interest in cinema) - I went with Action/Adventure.

horror is my favorite genre, and i get really picky (which i don'tlike, but its hard to please me when it comes to horror) but i also love movies that are indie dramas centered on characters. like the good girl or little miss sunshine. its just about the characters lives and how they would react to every day situations. i just love them.

Horror. It was the old Universal horror movies that got me into movies to begin with.

I would have said crime if it were listed, by that's fine, I'd like to show my appreciation for the genre of HORROR. When done right, there's nothing better... save for maybe crime. :D

I've noticed that when done perfectly Science Fiction/Fantasy is the best, but other then those that are done pitch perfect, they are the worst motherfucking movies ever.

Lord of the Rings sucks donkey cock.
