Shit... I don't know if I should say or not. Every time I think, "Yea, that would be cool to update and remake", it fucking happens! So... uhm...

The Car (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075809/)

and

The Towering Inferno (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072308/)

...and if they happen, I'll be pissed... unless my name is attached... which it won't be.

I might consider trying to get some approval to a good ghost in the shell sequel.

I'd much prefer re-releasing a movie to remaking one and I'd much less want to do one just to bring attention to the original. But if I had to choose a movie, it would be The Incredible Shrinking Man.

Gordon
03-13-2008, 08:02 PM
Yeah, now, the point of the thread wasn't whether or not you would actually want to spend a couple years of your life making one. Or whether you want to or not. But if you were to do one, which one would you do?

And it's probably worth further noting that any motherfucker in here would be lucky to get the chance to make any movie with any budget at all.

The Lost World. For anyone who's read the Michael Crichton's books you know what I am talking about. Jurassic Park was a great movie but wasnt as good as the book. The Lost World book was even better than the JP book yet the movie was a huge step backwards from JP. Easily Spielbergs biggest debacle, he had better source material and somehow managed to make a far inferior movie.

As much as I usually hate remakes, I'd kill to have James Cameron re-make Alien 3 and 4. Would never happen, but it'd be nice.

As for me re-making a movie? I'd be afraid to.

X-Men. Start the series off with the original 5 from the beginning. And do a better job with Angel, Iceman and Cyclops.

Hell yes, I agree ten thousand percent on this. Venom is supposed to be a badass not Foreman (which is the only way I see Topher Grace now).

wouldn't remake anything

I might consider trying to get some approval to a good ghost in the shell sequel.

I agree with this too, I fell asleep when they were in that part of the movie where it was looping back to the same scene or something, I kept waking up and I thought I was going crazy because it seemed like the same scene over and over again.

I agree with Spider-Man 3 (7/10). I actually enjoyed it quite a bit, but it was a mess. Even if it had to be a bit longer, or if a character was cut from the film, it would make it better.

I would also remake Hitman (4/10). What a mess that was. It wasn't even a fun action movie. There were like 3 action sequences and they were all boring as fuck.

Hostel: Part II (6/10). I would make the movie from the POV of the two men who win the bid to kill the girls. I'm sure once Eli Roth heard this idea, he was probably hitting himself in the head. It would have been so much better, possibly better than the first Hostel (7/10)

I can already tell that I would want to remake The Ruins. I read the book, and it is simply one of the most haunting novels ever written. I have read spoilers from the movie, and some of the best shit that happens in the novel is different in the movie, which is not a good thing at all. I would re-write the script using the book and copying it in script form, page by page and then make a 4-hour epic horror movie! Wouldn't that be fucking awesome! Regardless, I can't wait to see what it ends up like, but there is almost no chance it will be better than the novel.

Well , there's Starship Trooper 3 : Marauder for ya ! Direct-to-DvD sequel and Johnny Rico is back.

For a remake , mmmm dunno , prolly "7days in May" ... its a good old movie and deserves a little bit of recognition. Also , it fits the post-9/11 world we live in.

Another film I want remade is Godzilla.

The film from 1998 was horrible!

The technology right now mixed in with the incredible CGI effects we have would make this film awesome.

Hire the guys that created Gollum and lets make it happen ASAP.

Either "Cube" with an a-list cast and some better more realistic effects or "The Great Escape" with the coolest actors of today. I just think it would be awesome to see 1 dozen of my favorite actors working together to fuck the Nazis.

X-Men 3: Scrapped the whole cure plot, Nightcrawler would have been included, focused more on the humans using Sentinels to wage war against the X-Men.

Fantastic Four: Replaced all the Actors, Made The Thing bigger and more vicious, Dr. Doom more powerful and different costume.

Spider-Man 3: Harry would have became the 2nd Green Goblin (with a redesigned suit), No Sandman, Venom would have played a bigger part in the film, being more of the backbone of the story similar to Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight.

Daredevil: Replaced all actors, Green screen-film similar to 300 and Sin City. Darker, Villains: Bullseye and Mister Hyde.

Superman Returns : complete reboot, different director and cast (except Kevin Spacey), Brainiac as villain.

Ghost Rider: rated-R, replace Nicholas Cage, different director and story, darker and more violent.

Halloween III: Either remake this film and not call it Halloween make it a completely separate film entirely or show a story of Michael Myers that hasn't been established or shown.

Freddy vs. Jason: Deeper plot, more fighting, more deaths

Child's Play 3- Seed of Chucky : scrap Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky. Chucky torments another child. more deaths, similar to the first Child's Play.

Saw IV: Replaced Detective Hoffman, better twist

North By Northwest? High and Low? Harvey? Very curious answers being thrown around in here...

First thing that pops into my mind when this question is answered is Hellraiser. There's a movie with a great concept and a distinct, brilliant visual style brought down by awful pacing and worse acting, not to mention a few shitty, dated SFX.

I'd also get Cameron Diaz the fuck out of Gangs of New York. Recasting Leo's role isn't 110% necessary, but it wouldn't hurt. But really, Diaz is the big mistake in what should've been, and was close to being, a masterpiece.

I know there's more, I think about this shit all the time....hmmm....

Getting rid of Leo would have also improved it. The guy has acting chops, but in this film, he and Diaz stuck out like a sore thumb.

The Grudge-An R rated version.

Pearl Harbor
The actual attack was less than two hours long.
The movie was three. Why?
I'd base the entire film on the actual attack, the end would be FDR's speech and during the credits, footage of Coral Sea, Midway, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, Okinawa and finishing with Hiroshima... fade to black.

King Arthur

The Stand, as big budget trilogy in theaters, with no book content edited, so it would be a hard R, an excellent, A-list cast, and make it genuinely scary unlike the miniseries. Think Willem Defoe or Dennis Quaid as villain.

Maybe Shane, but do a reverse play on what Leone did, and adapt Shane to Samurai genre. I think that could be cool.

Maybe remake It as well...

That sounds more like the geriatric X-Men

I would remake...

Alligator - It's time to give this bitch some special effects
The Legend of the Lone Ranger
The Outsiders - just as an experiment to see if you could cast a bunch of unknown actors who would go on to be mega stars again
Red Dawn
American Ninja
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
The Blob - the '88 remake is one of the greatest remakes ever, but with todays special effects, with another good story it could be good again
Jaws the Revenge - bring in the voodoo guy who is pissed at Mike Brody so he calls sicks the shark on his family, the way it was in the book. Just to make it make a tiny little bit of sence
Cheerleader Camp - Just because
Chopping Mall - I think it could be even better than the original
The Running Man - loved Arnolds version... but I think it could use a revamp
Thrashin

1. The Mummy 3, with Rachel Weisz and a good storyline....

2. The Mortal Kombat series, with Tony Ja as Liu Kang, Chris Evans as Johnny Cage, and Ray Park as Sub-Zero. Epic.

3. The Ring 2, making it actually scary, and actually having an eerie plot like the 1st movie. The short film "Rings" had a sweet plot that should have been expanded on.

4. X-Men 3, nuff said

5. Jurassic Park 3, again......nuff said.

Id remake all the Spiderman movies with different actors for Spidey and Mary Jane (Im just not to big of fan of either actor) eventhough I like the movies I can only give them a 7/10.
Id remake XMen 3; no killing off Cyclops and Prof. X (eventhough they had that little scene at the end of the credits) have Rogue not go through with the cure (which that was actually in the deleted scenes I think shouldve done that), develop Colossus more, and keep Nightcrawler, I I cant decide if Id have Beast in there or not, put Gambit in there, and instead of killing Jean have starting to learn to control the Phoenix, and develop some of the bad guys. Shit Id make the movie at least 2 1/2 just so I could get major plot points across and be able to put in the mutants that Id like to see
I was thinking about Alien 3 then I decided no because it shouldnt have been made in the first place.

There's a Korean movie about to open here called The Chaser, which Leonardo DiCaprio has already snapped up remake rights for, and it's a good choice, because film has a great premise, but very flawed execution.

These character descriptions contain what you might consider spoilers, though nothing major

So... The Chaser
Joong-ho [Ex-detective, now a pimp, searching for a girl of his who he fears has been kidnapped by a rival]: Josh Brolin. Joong-ho (or whatever that name changes to) is definitely around his late 30's or early 40's. He has to be quite physically imposing, able to be threatening, but also charming because he's the anti-hero.

Young-min [A serial killer who has murdered several of Joong-ho's girls]: Leonardo DiCaprio. This role would be a good one for DiCaprio because he can play on, and then utterly shed, his clean cut image. It's a part for the last person you'd think of as a serial killer.

Mi-jin [Young-min's latest, not quite dead, victim]: Marley Shelton. She has to be delicate, vulnerable looking, but able to fight back convincingly. She also has to be beautiful and old enough to have a seven year old daughter.

Oh yea Id remake the Star Wars prequels, I dont think they were bad movies my ratings for Clones and Phantom Menace is 7/10 I would just correct what I thought was wrong with them, mostly my problem with the prequels especially the first two is that George Lucas made them too cute to try to appeal to kids and the fact alot of the dialogue was just plain bad.
With Phantom Menace I would not have Jar Jar either that or not make him the clutzy goof ball whose a complete idiot have him banished because he like starting mischeif instead of him being clumsy. Then I would make Anakin older instead of being that annoying kid, I dont know whod Id pick to play him cuz the only actor thats the same age as Hayden that is a good actor is Chris Evans but hes probably not right for the part but whoever it would be itd definantly be an improve

As far as The Attack of the Clones remove all the cheesy dialogue between Anakin and Padme have the love story just not be so damn corny

Revenge of the Sith, I really enjoy Revenge of the Sith (8/10) the only reason why I cant give it a 9/10 or even a 10/10 is the corny ass way Padme dies, a broken heart are you kidding me that is the one of worst peices of melodrama Ive ever seen. At least have her go out by some spy murdering her after she delivered the babies and then Obi-wan kills him in a really violent way.
