1. Gary Mark Gilmore in The Executioner's Song
2. Woodrow F. Call in Lonesome Dove
3. Clay Shaw in JFK
4. Marshal Samuel Gerard in THE FUGITIVE
5. Hank Deerfield in IN THE VALLEY OF ELAH
6. Ed Tom Bell in NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN
7. Major Hank Marshall in BLUE SKY
8. Roy Foltrigg in THE CLIENT
9. William Stranix in UNDER SIEGE
10. Travis Lehman in DOUBLE JEOPARDY

Even with a few missteps like VOLCANO and BATMAN FOREVER, TLJ is still one of the most formidable middle-aged leading men out there. I finally saw IN THE VALLEY OF ELAH last night, and although the film wasn't nearly as good as NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, Jones' performance was...he always delivers!

What about as Samuel Jones / Chaa-duu-ba-its-iidan in The Missing? Really good movie, and TLJ (as always) is killer in it.

I've always though his role in The Fugitive was awesome. And he steals the show in Under Siege. Impresses yet again with In the Valley of Elah and No Country for Old Men last year.

I thought he was hilarious in Natural Born Killers...and come to think of it, some of his best work is in Oliver Stone films: NBK, Heaven & Earth, and of course JFK.

I haven't seen Valley of Elah yet and it's been ages since I've seen The Fugitive, so it's kind of hard to really rank his best at the moment....but undoubtedly, he's a great actor.

I really want to see The Amazing Howard Hughes, I'm curious to see how he played the role....has anyone seen it?

Tommy Lee Jones has given great performances I've seen him in (even Men In Black I hated the movies but I liked him) the only exception being his Two Face in Batman Forever but that was because he could have done a great job if Joel Schumacher had done a better job making the movie.
