Yes they were. GM were the only one that would let Bay license the use of their vehicles. It wasn't for his lack of trying. I remember a interview he had where he said he went to all the different car companies (Ferrari, Ford, Dodge, etc) and they all rejected him. The reason that Barricade was in the movie was because he was a Shelby Mustang, and no longer a Ford. I guess they couldn't grasp the concept of cars turning into robots and how that could help them commercially. It reminds me of when they said that Will Smith was suppose to be Neo in "The Matrix" originally but the directors explained it in such a bad way(not clearly) that Will Smith walked away from it.

I'm hoping that the other companies saw how big and successful the 1st Transformers was, and now will want to be part of it.
