what are some of the movies with the best quotes?
forme its the departed and steel magnolias...
example:
from steel magnolias:
Clairee: I've just been to the dedication of the new children's park.
Truvy: Yeah, how did that go?
Clairee: Janice Van Meter got hit with a baseball. It was fabulous.
Truvy: Was she hurt?
Clairee: I doubt it. She got hit in the head.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(my favorite!)...
Truvy: Oh, Sammy's so confused he don't know whether to scratch his watch or wind his butt
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ouiser Boudreaux: Yes, Annelle, I pray! Well, I do! There, I said it, I hope you're satisfied.
Annelle: I suspected this all along!
Ouiser Boudreaux: Oh! Well don't you expect me to come to one of your churches or one of those tent-revivals with all those Bible-beaters doin' God-only-knows-what! They'd probably make me eat a live chicken!
Annelle: Not on your first visit!
Clairee Belcher: Very good, Annelle! You've spoken like a true smart-ass!
and some from the departed:
( my favorite!)...
Dignam: This is unbelievable. Who put the fuckin' cameras in this place?
Police Camera Tech: Who the fuck are you?
Dignam: I'm the guy who does his job. You must be the other guy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Colin Sullivan: You got a nice suit at home or do you like coming to work everyday dressed like you're goin' to invade Poland?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ellerby: I'm gonna go have a smoke right now. You want a smoke? You don't smoke, do ya, right? What are ya, one of those fitness freaks, huh? Go fuck yourself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lazio: Do you have anyone in with Costello presently?
Dignam: Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe fuck yourself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
and with the said, dignam being one of my favorite characters in history of film! hilarious!

Avi: Should I call you Bullet? Tooth?
Bullet Tooth Tony: You can call me Susan if it makes you happy.
Brick Top: In the quiet words of the Virgin Mary... come again?
Tommy: Who took the jam outta your doughnut?
Turkish: You took the fucking jamm outta my doughnut, Tommy. You did.
COMMANDO
Matrix: Let off some steam, Bennett
Matrix: Remember, Sully, when I promised to kill you last?
Sully: That's right, Matrix. You did.
Matrix: I lied.
Matrix: [after killing a man in the plane] Don't disturb my friend, he's dead tired.
RUNNING MAN
Amber: I warn you I get sick. Car sick, air sick. And I'm going to throw up all over *you*.
Richards: Go for it. Won't show on this shirt...
Ben Richards: Killian! I'll be back!
Damon Killian: Only in a rerun.
Damon Killian: You bastard! Drop dead!
Ben Richards: I don't do requests.
Ben Richards: Killian, here's your Subzero, now plain zero.
Ben Richards: Uplink underground, uplink underground. If you say that one more time, I'll uplink your ass, and you'll be underground!
Amber: Me and my big mouth. We should have taken the trip to Hawaii.
Ben Richards: I had the shirt for it, but you fucked it up.
Ben Richards: I told Killian I'd be back. I wouldn't want to be a liar.
LAST BOY SCOUT
Joe Hallenbeck: This is the '90s. You don't just go around punching people. You have to say something cool first.
Jimmy Dix: I figure you gotta be the dumbest guy in the world, Joe. You're trying the save the life of the man who ruined your career, and avenge the death of the guy that fucked your wife.
Jimmy Dix: Maybe I could take your daughter horseback riding. How old is she?
Joe Hallenbeck: She's 13, and if you even look at her funny I'm gonna shove an umbrella up your ass and open it.
Darian Hallenbeck: What the hell is that number on the back of your head? What is that, like a license plate in case someone tries to steal it?

Anything Cameron Crowe has written, man. It's like he knows his lines are going to be insanely and sickeningly memorable.
Show me the money!
You had me at hello.
You...complete me.
I am a golden God!!!
You are home.
and the music in his movies...completely different story.

I think No Country for Old Men will become (and I suppose is) a movie for memorable quotes as well:
Anton: "What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss?"
Anton: "You know how this is gonna turn out don't you"
Llewellyn: "No"
Anton: "I think you do"
Ed Tom Bell: "I always figured when I got older, God would sorta come inta my life somehow. And he didn't. I don't blame him. If I was him I would have the same opinion of me that he does."
and one of my personal favourite peices of dialogue in film history (there's something about it):
Anton: "And you know what's going to happen now. You should admit your situation. There would be more dignity in it."
Carson: "You go to hell"
Anton: "Let me ask you something. If the rule you followed brought you to this, of what use was the rule?"
Carson: "Do you have any idea how goddamn crazy you are?"
Anton: "You mean the nature of this conversation?"
Carson: "I mean the nature of you."
What a movie, gotta get it on DVD soon:)

My two favorite movies to quote (sometimes endlessly) are The Big Lebowski and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. In fact, KKBB has one of my top 5 favorite movie lines of all time in it:
Perry: Look up the word 'idiot' in the dictionary - know what you'll find?
Harry: ...A picture of me?
Perry: No! The definition of the word 'idiot', which you fucking are!
But that's just, like, my opinion, man. ;)

Ted Striker: Surely you can't be serious.

Roger Murdock: Flight 2-0-9'er, you are cleared for take-off.
Captain Oveur: Roger!
Roger Murdock: Huh?
Tower voice: L.A. departure frequency, 123 point 9'er.
Captain Oveur: Roger!
Roger Murdock: Huh?
Victor Basta: Request vector, over.
Captain Oveur: What?
Tower voice: Flight 2-0-9'er cleared for vector 324.
Roger Murdock: We have clearance, Clarence.
Captain Oveur: Roger, Roger. What's our vector, Victor?
Tower voice: Tower's radio clearance, over!
Captain Oveur: That's Clarence Oveur. Over.
Tower voice: Over.
Captain Oveur: Roger.

All awesome posts. I love it. Seriously!
Do any of you know a guy or guys who pretty much only talks in movie quotes and never has an original thought to say without it being a movie quote? I used to find it entertaining, but now the guy I know is just annoying.

Deja Vu: Haven't we met before?
Nick Rivers: I don't think so.
Du Quois: Over there, Croissant, Souffle, Escargot, and Chocolate Mousse.
Nick Rivers: Do you mind if I have a swig of this?
[picks up bottle]
Chocolate Mousse: Go right ahead.
Nick Rivers: [takes a mouthful, spits in disgust] What the hell is this stuff?
Chocolate Mousse: Gasoline.

The Dark Knight
Everything the Joker said
Blade Runner
Batty: Fiery the angels fell. Deep thunder rolled around their shores... burning with the fires of Orc.
Tyrell: [Tyrell explains to Roy why he can't extend his lifespan] The facts of life... to make an alteration in the evolvement of an organic life system is fatal. A coding sequence cannot be revised once it's been established.
Batty: I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.

I was just about to say that. Definitely. Heath was gold.
Pulp Fiction (as everyone has said)
Anchorman
Snatch, I just quoted this yesterday, actually. Someone asked me how much the gas was at the station we were driving by, which was at least a football field away. I said "I don't know" and she got annoyed, so I replied, "Sorry, I didn't get the binoculars out quick enough." in a British accent.
Grindhouse, both Planet Terror and Death Proof have pretty nice quotes in them.
Seinfeld, I know it's a TV show and not a movie, but I'm not kidding when I say that my roommate and I each quote Seinfeld (especially Frank) at least 3-5 times a day.
