yeah jackie chan hates the forbidden kingdom
The first day we started filming, it felt like we had worked together for many years,” Chan said, adding, “after filming this movie, we didn’t have enough fun.”
“In four months (of filming), we went from friends to becoming brothers,” Li said.
Chan said their fight sequences went so smoothly that cinematographer Peter Pau told them to slow down.
He said “The Forbidden Kingdom” is not the movie he wanted to make his first collaboration with Li, but he signed on when the project came along because “if I had kept waiting, who knows how long I would have had to wait.”
Chan and Li said they want to shoot another movie together based on a script they started working on 15 years ago, but both stars refused to give details.

Didn't I hear that Jet Li was retiring from acting?

No real... he retired from kung fu epics... lol

Jet Li said he wanted to stop making wushu movies, which were physically tough and violent. Not actually retiring from the biz.
And I think jackie's always talking out of his ass because that press conference happened in China, and he's talking to fans who want him to only make Chinese movies. He has said in other interviews he loves it.

They should both retire, their new movie looks like absolute shit.

NO, I want to see this other movie they wrote together 15 years ago. Hell, that was back when they were both awesome. We might have the greatest kung fu movie ever hiding out in their minds, waiting for just this kind of breakthrough pairing in order to finally get made.
Don't look at this crapfest as a dead end, look at it as a stepping stone.

The Forbidden Kingdom is supposed to have one of the most epic fight scenes ever put to film. I'll take that over a promise of a movie any day. I'm psyched to see what their next movie will be but dying to see this one. This is Jackie and Jet we're talking about, it's gonna be awesome.

yeah, the Forbidden Kingdom looks midly amusing but I am curious to see what this script they have hidden is all about. The two of them together can still make a badass movie, so I will remain positive about a re-teaming.

Haven't seen anyone mention this video. It's a pretty brief behind the scenes making-of the fight between Jackie and Jet. Not much to be excited about since all the stuff is really short and brief. But,here you are:
http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/theforbiddenkingdom.html?showVideo=1
I won't be holding any expectations towards this movie. As long as I have anticipated for these two to be in a movie together to either team up or kick each other's butts. I feel it's way past their time when they could have done it. Still, it's nice to see them move pretty good after all these years.
And regarding their plans for another movie together, I'll wait and see what will come of the talk.

No it doesn't. You're wrong.

Absolute shit would define: Blonde and Blonder, The Hottie and the Nottie, Date Movie, etc.
I do feel that Forbidden Kingdom might not be all that great. It's mediocre entertainment at best trying to cash in on the popularity between Chan and Li. And, they're smart for finally teaming both stars up now while they still can. But, calling this absolute shit is just much. There are worse movies to sit through.
I'm most likely going to give this a shot. Regardless. It's most likely going to have some moments here and there.

the story sounds kinda lame, what with "a time traveling youth" and all.
but c'mon!
IT'S FUCKING jACKIE cHAN AND JET LI IN THE SAME MOVIE!!!!!!
PERSONALLY, I CAN'T WAIT.

Definitely. And I've seen enough to think it'll be great. That behind the scenes clip is so intense, even though it's too short. I'm hoping we'll see more of Yuen Woo Ping working with them on the DVD.

It's weird, I'm a massive Jackie Chan fan of his films like Operation Condor and First Strike and Who Am I? But everything he has done in the U.S. has been utter shit. Jet Li on the other hand I've not really liked anything that guy has done except for Unleashed.
To me, this just doesn't look entertaining.

I can understand that you don't think the film looks entertaining. But I can't miss this.

I think this scene alone would be worth catching in the theaters. Even if the overall movie is mediocre at best. Look at these two go!

That clip is sick! There's a Chinese music video I saw that has a little more of the fight on it, Forbidden Kingdom music video (http://you.video.sina.com.cn/b/12010938-1236103277.html)

Some of the Rush Hour series is silly but he's always fun to watch. I thought New Police Story was pretty decent. I have to admit though, I'm more psyched about Forbidden Kingdom than I've been in awhile for a Jackie movie.

I was excited for this until I saw the plot outline involving a "15 year old kid obsessed with kung fu movies".....talk about buzzkill

Jet Li said he wanted to stop making wushu movies, which were physically tough and violent. Not actually retiring from the biz.
I heard he was retiring from "martial arts epics".
And here he is, in a movie that seems to be exactly what many call a "martial arts epic."
Sigh, whatever.
But Li Bingbong... Hm. I'd "bing" her "bong", no doubt about it.

is her last name bingbing, thats so cute.

Bingbing might be her first name, but either way, hotness.
KcMsterpce, yeah, who knows what he wants to do. I think he's trying to work his philosophy more into his movies. I'm a huge Jet Li fan and love to watch him kick ass- he's an amazing fighter, so I'm glad he's not retiring for reals. The more flicks from him the better imho.

I'm continuing to hold out hope that the two cultivate this relationship, along with the one they'll be making with the choreographer, and turn it into a future masterpiece of martial arts cinema.
Till then, heres a TV spot that brushes over the shitty aspects of the story and focuses on the team up:

Is it just me or is this movie another one of those "kung-fu" movies where the guys are on strings and shit??
I just watched this clip from the above post:http://uk.media.movies.ign.com/media/863/863783/vid_2337721.html
and I saw a CGI statue break, some speed ups, and Jet Li hovering off the ground. I dont wanna see that shit.. I wanna see Jackie Chan vs Jet Li in a gladiator style arena.
Who here thinks that the guy who directed the Stuart Little Franchise and The Haunted Mansion can make a kung fu movie? How did he even get a hold of this.
I'll still see it to see them face off.. but I'm not wasting money on a ticket and I know I'll be upset. I love them both... on dvd

Not from acting, or even from action pictures. He said he was just retiring from "martial arts epics" (a.k.a. "wushu" films).
It would be like Stallone coming out and saying he won't be doing anymore of his own stunts becuase he is turning into a woman.

I wouldn't let your hopes get up one bit. I've heard the "fight" scene is incredibly tame. Remeber when we heard that Jet Li and Jason Statham were going to dish it out in War?

There's some wirework but more than just singling it out, I think it's just a kind of a tribute to the great martial arts movies and sequences of the past. Honestly, it looks like so much fun I don't know how you could stand to miss this one on the big screen but that's me.
You can watch part of the fight on blackfilm, which just posted a bunch of clips I hadn't seen.
