Jon Turtletaub, director of "National Treasure : Book of Secrets" (or "National Treasue 2 : Book of Secrets" as Disney has renamed it for the DVD), took part in a viral chat with a few online journalists this week (including Monsters and Critics), to discuss the DVD release of the film. Naturally, someone asked a "National Treasure 3" question - or two.

"I'm guessing that we're a few years away", the filmmaker said of a third film. "By the time we come up with a decent idea and develop it into a complicated and intelligent puzzle it's going to be at least 2009. Then to prep it and cast it... it should be three years away."

And where might a third film be set?

"There are still plenty of landmarks left.... both in the US and around the world. The fun of National Treasure is in building on what's real... bringing out the story in the places and things you see every day. From the Golden Gate Bridge to the Great Wall of China, from the Sphinx to the Taj Mahal... there's a lot left."

Honestly, who cares...really? More shitty sequels. And this is old news. Cage has shown interest in making another 2 of these crapfest outings. Not to mention, he wants another Ghostrider movie plus other assorted shit. It just never ends

After the shitty Book of Secrets, I won't bother with another one.

The only way this news can get any better is if he said the movie was 6 years away. ;)

This always felt like the DIET COKE of the Indiana Jones series.

I almost fell asleep during the BOOK OF SECRETS. "Lets look at some desks!"

World Trade Center, The Weather Man, Lord of War, Matchstick Man, Adaptation.

Despite the odd flop here and there (The Wicker Man), I think for the most part he's doing fine work.

And I thought Next was a good movie ruined by a crappy ending.

The last three in your list were actually his last best movies. He now stars in crappy mainstream movies that make as much money in the box office, but leave a gaping hole in my brain.

World Trade Center is an amazing movie and I don't see how anyone can not at least like it. And Cage gave an extraordinary performance in it. Him and Michael Pena and Maggie Gyllenhaal and Maria Bello.
