what's your favourite?

mine's "I've seen it all" by Bjork, and "Falling slowly" by Hansard and Irglova.

Jon Brion's "Knock Yourself Out". Plus some of his stuff from Eternal Sunshine and Punch-Drunk Love.

Also "Come What May" from Moulin Rouge is pretty amazing.

If you haven't heard them yet, I strongly suggest you guys get your hands on the soundtrack to Almost Famous. It contains 6 full-length songs (featured partially in the film) played by the fictional band Stillwater, and not only are they really convincing as songs from the 1970's but they're also pretty excellent songs regardless.

I'd say Infinity by Queens of the Stone Age for Heavy Metal 2000. I just really like that song.

I also liked the songs in Hustle & Flow. I was shocked to find that they were better than most of the shit I hear on the radio. You Know It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp and Hustle & Flow were were both good.
