"You don't get it"/"You don't understand."

"You weren't paying attention."

"You just don't know how to have fun at the movies."

"Your expectations were just too high."

"What did you expect?"

"Well, yeah... I didn't go to be taught a life lesson; I went to be ENTERTAINED."

"It's one of the greatest films ever made. If you can't see that, you need to get your head out of your FAT ASS."

"It's one of the worst movies ever made. If you can't see that, it's your problem."

"You hate it because it's popular/because it's the cool thing to do right now."

"You love it because everyone else does."

"If would have been good if you saw it 4 months ago, when it was 'underground'."

These are always great to read. I never ever feel pissed off or stupid reading these kinds of comments. They always make me see the truth of things. These are the ultimate "argument enders." I just sit back, and let the truth soak in after reading this kind of stuff.

How about YOU guys? Which is YOUR favorite?

Nah, I'm not talking about direct flaming and insulting.

I'm thinking more along the lines of the roundabout way of "politely" putting people down for their opinions.

Some times that's worse than just saying someone's an asshole, or telling them to fuck off.

An opinion on a movie is just that. Many people seem to think that because their opinion is 'correct', then no one else should be able to disagree.

I post many times in threads about movies I don't like. This is partly because if EVERYONE posts how perfect a movie is, then what's the point of debate?
Also, I'm sure there are others who also share my opinion, but maybe they just kind of need a platform to jump start their thoughts. After another person states their thoughts, it helps them organize their own and chime in.

I enjoy debate over movies, which is why I love this site. MOST of the time, the moronic argument styles are sifted and tossed away.

There are many times, though, where it's hard to try and state your reasons behind the like/dislike of a movie because there are people vehemently opposed to your feelings, and try to make you appear stupid for having a differing opinion by making the statements from my first post.

Such as:

Poster 1: There Will Be Blood was a bad movie.

Poster 2: Your opinion is wrong, Maggot!

Someone once responded to my criticism by saying:

"You criticize the film for the very reasons that it was made."

It took me a few days to try to come up with a response to that.

But what if they really don't get it? Sometimes, people don't get it. It's a fact of life.

But yeah, these are all annoying, especially "I'd like to see YOU make a movie."

Most of the time, "it" is just a matter of opinion anyway. They don't "get" what you "get."

"You don't get it"/"You don't understand."

I get this every time I express how much I disliked Grindhouse, Shoot 'Em Up and That Rob Zombie Movie With That Guy Who Wears a Michael Myers Mask.

As if purposefully being a bad movie is the movie's way of being bulletproof against bad reviews.

They sucked monkey balls.

I like this one too:

"It would've made millions if it hadn't been leaked a week earlier."

Cicular logic playsa predominant role in this.

POST #1: "You liked 'Movie X' so your taste isn't credible.
POST#2: "What? You have the worst opinion on movies. You even liked 'Movie X'?

"Well my <insert type of degree here> says I know what I'm talking about."

In response to movies many psycholgy students like to throw their acheivments in your face when discussing characters. "Well he was dealing with stress from his childhood and..." No, no, no, he was just a pussy.

I swear if one more person gives me the 'Well you know what they say about opinions . .. they're like assholes. Everyone has one!' line I might just possibly stop commenting in that thread.

Also any form of the 'arguing on the internet/special olympics' line as well.

Person 1: "You know what they say about opinions, they're like assholes..."
Person 2: *Cutting off person 1* "I like to have sex with opinions?"

Bst response I've ever heard to that line.
