Well . . . I clicked on the second link you posted and it has been "taken down by the user." So - you did strike a chord.

I don't know why people do it; I don't know what the major fascination is with youtube (or myspace for that matter). I think I've spent a total of 30 minutes on it in my life. Sometimes people just want attention and credit and do it by doing what happened in your particular situation.

I think you should continue doing what you're doing, Bubba - that is a pretty cool video you put together.

That's cool that they did that, so I'm glad I spoke up. My faith in other people is less rocked than before. So whoever you are, thank you for doing that.

I'm not really *into* YouTube like other people seem to be - I mean that for me, it was the only place (at the time) where you could get free web hosting for your videos. This thing was something that I discovered by total accident- checking hte video stats, and a quick google search, I saw the video pop up other places under that link and was just like "Wha?"

Then once I stepped back and thought about it, felt it wasn't really right. I'm glad the right person saw that as well.

eBaumsworld is notorious for stealing videos from people and claiming them as their own. It's why there's like a huge uprising against the site and that one anti-ebaums world video was made.

Nightcrawler - Good stuff, and that sucks you got yours lifted then posted on something as viewed as ebaumsworld.

I wouldn't have been ticked if someone had taken the idea and done their own video, but they just lifted everything, glitch in the start and all. I was just kind of like... man, if you're going to do all that, at least take the extra minute to fix that.

I'll repost the video and PM those requesting it when I add a watermark, and fix the stuff I kept whining about needing fixed. :D

What's funny about my case is that the tool who uploaded the ebaumsworld watermarked video has received several comments saying "This isn't yours!" "Take it down!" "What the fuck!", not to mention a PM from me showing him that the video is already on YouTube (from its original creator and with quality that doesn't completely fucking suck), and still wants to keep it there. He just told me to fuck off and deletes all the comments.

I also received some dude going "This video is mine, I'm going to sew (yes, sew) you!!!!", but that's another story.

That is fucked. I got off lucky because in my case, the person saw that it bothered me, and stepped up to make it right. That was really cool, and made me feel like it was just someone who didn't think about it as an 'offense' and thus probably doing it with good intentions.

I'm seriously kind of bummed though that the person never PMed me. I was seriously hoping they could help me get more views on the video once I fixed it. So, to whomever you are --- It's really cool... I appreciate that you liked the video, and I appreciate that you respected my wishes... I would never repeat your identity, or hold it against you ---- It's just YouTube, the Internet, and everything that binds us together as movie fans -- as Life Aquatic and No Country fans is as solid a foundation as you can ask for in these parts.

The crux of my ranting was that I didn't want it posted on places like the IMDb, or being sent to random people, because it wasn't done --- also the fact that it was someone here who posts regularly that did this, but they didn't bother mentioning it or even saying, "Hey, I like this video."

I'm pretty sure you saw it though - the Life Aquatic for Old Men. It wasn't anything outstanding, which also added toward my peeve-itivity, as I was keeping it within a limited clique to get feedback and wanted to make it work better... If you are going to rip me off, at least let me finish first. :D
