I love horror movies, but not to the extent that you guys do. The knowledge you guys have is insane. Anyway, enough with verbal handjobs. I need some help. My friend is coming over tomorrow night and we're gonna be drinking (heavily I think). But we'll probably be watching a movie or two. So, I want a scary. And I'm talking SCARY, horror movie. Now, I've seen a bunch of scary movies and I'm sure she has too. So I want some suggestions. I'd like them to be more mainstream so they will be easier to locate at my local hollywood video. I appreciate all the help. Just start throwin shit out and I'll let ya know the deal. Thank you very much.

Usually I like to do hybrid films for people who aren't really into horror. Horror/comedy, Horror/action, etc. but if you want something REALLY scary you can't go wrong with The Exorcist. Another mainstream film you may want to look into is the Dawn of the Dead remake. Evil Dead's another good one. You shouldn't have any trouble finding these.

Haute Tension.....very good french flick but it is dubbed. One of the best ever actually.....very scary and GREAT ending.
The Descent.....another great film..but get the UK version for the orignal ending...or it's the uncut version...not sure what it says. The US watered it down a lot.
Both were released here so you can find them fine.

Ok we watched the descent together once so thats out. I have been thinking about High Tension, but that movie is absolutely brutal and I dont want something extremely violent. One movie that I've been tinkering with is Aliens.

Aliens is a good action flick...not very scary...just awesome!
Ok...not brutal but scary and main stream.........How about Jeepers Creepers? Shaun of the Dead (Hilarious)? The Thing? (Classic!)

For a good scary zombie flick, I'd go with 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, or Dawn of the Dead '04
A good scary supernatural type flick, I'd go with Event Horizon, Hellraiser 2, Session 9, or The Shining.
For a good scary creature/monster type flick, I'd go with Alien, Aliens, or The Thing.
For a good scary slasher flick, I'd go with Halloween '78, Haute Tension, Texas Chainsaw Massacre '74, The Last House on the Left

Event Horizon, Black Christmas (original that is).

Tough to say seeing as everyone thinks different movies are scary. Session 9 is a great movie though and Hollywood should have it.
