Freaky how that stuff works. Manson steals her soul to make her look like Uma Thurman, and in doing so, he now looks a little bit like her? I don't understand the stand the ways of the darkness.

She's not emo, definitely goth! I love that picture above of Evan rachel Wood... Her skin is divine without all that powder crap. You guys should watch the video of her and Manson in "Heart Shaped Glasses" (Heh, Lolita reference!). Evan and manson start off naked making out and having sex, while Evan is moaning quite loudly. Manson has one helluva creepy body:
http://www.kovideo.net/music/video/Marilyn-Manson---Heart-Shaped-Glasses/1120.html
The main issue with this relationship is how MUCH she is copying Manson's ex, Dita Von Teese. Either Manson is asking her to dress the same, or Evan is trying to copy Dita? Who knows... decide for yourself!!

Yeah, but even still, there's a big difference between Ally Sheedy from The Breakfast Club and emo.
Wearing black and being morose/introspective/sensitive does not make emo, or else we might as well call Deeter from Sprockets emo.
Marylyn Manson is probably closer to being a disco diva than he is to being emo.

You know... The reason I hate trendy emo is the whole self-mutilation thing. I've known plenty of people who do it to somehow fit in and that's part of the whole side of it that we hear about constantly. So people lump all those who self-mutilate as attention seeking tools whose problems only lie in their needing to be part of the crowd.
So yeah, fuck 'em. Sorry for the mini-rant.

This is emo-style is essentially what we used to call skate punk. Personally, I think the whole bad association with it has more to do with its introduction into the mainstream than anything else. Sid Vicious used to fucking carve his self and had a pretty good technique down. The only difference is that there weren't a bunch of teeny boppers on myspace saying how profound he was, giving the idea to some loser in BFE who doesn't know a trend from his asshole in the ground.

Well, my point was that I think people get the intent and the reasoning totally wrong when the adapt a style.
An example would be when the punk style in England erupted. The people who started dressing like that did so using basically clothes from the trash, and pinning them together and just throwing stuff on to create an expression. By the time that became mainstream, you had people buying ripped up shirts at the department store for more than you'd pay for a shirt with no rips.
Or you can look at the 80s when the ripped jean thing came in -- That was just drawn from the rockers who would wear the same jeans on tour, and they'd eventually rip up and shit. All of a sudden, now rockers had rips in their jeans and it was a fashion -- people started doing it to be cool.
It's sort of the same thing with this cutting shit. If I remember, you are privy to da psychology so you know all about people who genuinely do this stuff... but now because it's gotten attention in the mainstream, it's suddenly a fashion trend, and the people who are doing it aren't doing it for the right reasons.
You can go through so many things and see this. It seems cutting has become as fashionable as making out with you friend was a few years back.
The reason I bring up the net is because there used to be a time where the only way you could find out about this shit was first-hand.

Re: Fashion over the years.... Yeah I guess trend setting existed pre-90's. Huh... ;):o
It just strikes me as sad that cutting is fashionable. People who do it for sincere and valid (but ultimately ineffectively coped) depression or what have you don't always feel the physical pain. I can't imagine why someone who is probably not looking for relief which is caused by an endorphin rush which is brought on by cutting would do it. (and that has been theorized, the endorphin part)
Shirley Manson has talked about her issues with it before and i believe she was/is doing a documentary on the subject as a sort of cautionary effort:
http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1429321/20000530/nullgarbage.jhtml (About her admission)
http://www.cutthemovie.com/press/Manson.html (the documentary)
And supposedly Angelina Jolie has talked about it in the past... And Colin Farrell has apparently had some form of trichotillomania, which isn't cutting but there you have it.
I don't think I'll ever get:
Actress/Actor Does Something = I have to copy
And I'm spent. :p

I had extremely realllly bad depression and anxiety for a long time(got over it by taking up weight lifting and running) and even at the worst it got, i just didnt understand AT ALL the idea of cutting yourself. Ive seen people talk about it before and they have perfectly good lives with very few real troubles to speak of.
I agree with Tweek that maybe its an endorphin rush or something. Thats all i could ever reason.

Yeah 'tis not understandable, I can get that, I guess. Glad you found a quite constructive and healthy way to cope with what you were going through.

That logic confuzzles me a tad. Seen by who (or whom? English!)... Because if it's for YOU to see and no one else it'll probably cause anyone who cares about you some worry because you're probably going to try and hide them. And if it's prominently displayed then that could hinder things for you. That's my logic at a quarter 'til 7AM.
Every cutter I've met that DOESN'T do it for attention and trends will cover them up. Long sleeves in the summer and the like.
SO yeah, point is, one the less understandable trends.

No, I think the one on the right is Manson. He put some kind of Dark Spell on here to make her look like Uma Thurman and it somehow caused her soul to integrate into his. I'm thinking he probably got one of the old copies of Soul Sucking and Body Transference for Dummies that had to be recalled when they realized the Korean printers had accidentally put all the numbers in metric but with standard attributes. Sad shit. I'm still trying to get my dog out of Kirsten Dunst.

My personal message to the emo generation:
1. You do not have psychological problems. You are not severely depressed. You're just a teenager. Everyone goes through it and it is common knowledge that that period of time is tough on everybody. Grow some balls and live with it.
2. There are people out there with actual problems. Actual psychological issues. These are the people who truly need help. These tend to be the people who actually suffer from things such as Bi-Polar disorder, severe depression, etc... This is not the person who thinks "cutting yourself" is the only way to make "the pain of my ex-girlfriend" and "the pain of my parents misunderstanding me" go away.
3. Sorry guys, it's not sexy nor cool to look like a girl. Stop trying to. It wasn't cool in the 80's, it's not cool now. Oh, and you can't just choose one day to be bisexual and the next day to not be. Make up your damn mind.
4. Hot Topic clothing does not make you unique. It didn't make you unique when it was used for Metal, Nu-Metal and Alternative clothing in the 90's, and it doesn't now. It just makes you one of the crowd.
5. If you're 14 and already think your life is worth ending, you need a punch in the face and a reality check.
