Norton Blasts Media for "Distorting" Studio Rift
Actor Edward Norton has launched a scathing attack on the media - stating reporters have "distorted" stories to sensationalize a rift between himself and the studio behind his upcoming film The Incredible Hulk. The Fight Club star was allegedly caught in a series of aggressive outbursts towards the blockbuster's financiers Marvel Entertainment over a disagreement about the movie's final cut. According to reports, Norton didn't agree with Marvel's plans to re-shape the film into a series of action scenes, which led to rampant rumors he had strongly pitted himself against the studio. But the star refutes the rumors, stating such "disputes" were part of a "healthy" moviemaking creative process, and blames the media for "distorting" the truth in hope of securing a "good story." He says, "Every good movie gets forged through collaboration, and different ideas among people who are all committed and respect the validity of each other's opinions is the heart of filmmaking. Regrettably, our healthy process, which is and should be a private matter, was misrepresented publicly as a 'dispute', seized on by people looking for a good story and has been distorted to such a degree that it risks distracting from the film itself, which Marvel, Universal and I refuse to let happen." And the film's director Louis Leterrier agrees with Norton's claims, insisting it was the media's take on the rift which prevented a final agreement being stalled between the two battling parties. He explains, "Everyone was exhausted; it was like a little burst. (Then it) became public, (which) kept Edward and Marvel from talking to each other. (The purported feud) was nothing and then it became something big."

I cant say I really feel sorry for Norton. He basically got himself into this mess. Starring in a remake of The Hulk (directed by the guy that did freakin Transporter 2 for Christ sakes!).

I want to see Norton get on top of Motherless Brooklyn already. If he pulls it off right he will definitely get an Oscar Nom.

With that being said, despite some recent misses under his belt he is still one of my favorite actors and an all around badass motherfucker. Fight Club and 25th Hour are some of my most favorite films.

Also Down in the Valley is pretty underrated. It gets a bad rap.

I agree! American History X and Death to Smoochy are a couple of my favorites of his. I tired watching Down in the Valley but was bored out of my mind. I need to give it another watch.

However, I don't believe Norton. You know that he threw a hissy fit. I still respect him though!

I get the feeling this Hulk movie is going to be a gamma radiated piece of crap.
Don't know why, but all signs are pointing to this.
And I really like Ed Norton too.
For his sake, I'm hoping for the best.

Gotta take Norton's side on this. The man knows what he's doing, give him a chance...

I'm thinking sometimes some conflict during production can be a good thing , it challenges people's creativity and can potentially improve the final product . If it's all a chummy lovefest with all the parties involved , you can get a bland studio product .

Who knows what really happened , Norton may just be downplaying some of the differences he had with marvel , or the media is blowing it out of proportion .

I'm thinking , this version of the Hulk will have a certain edge that Iron man won't . I'm mentioning that film because it seems as if that one looks great but is your typical comic book movie filled the usual mainstream movie cliches .

I'm not saying which one i will enjoy more , but with Norton involved with Hulk and these " rumors ' about his supposed insistence on his vision being the one that the public sees , it could be deeper and more satisfying , even if it most likely won't make more than Ironman , a film who's star was just happy to get some mainstream exposure finally .

I think the movie will be a typical Hollywood summer blockbuster: lots of CGI, action, etc. With Norton in there, it might have some character and depth, but in the end . . . it will be another blockbuster.

Still looking forward to it.
