Why so much hate for Nickelback?

i dont understand this, i must be the only one in these forums that likes this band, sure they are massivly overrated, but they produce some good stuff. just a handful of their good stuff is below, im just curious why so many people on here 'hate' them

I think the hate comes from the fact that they're incredibly generic, and don't sound that much different from the rest of their colleagues. They're the poster child for radio-friendly rock, geared towards the lowest common denominator most of the time. Some of their hit radio tune singles even sound identical and feel like they were written simply because their previous single was popular.

That being said, I still enjoy a few of their tunes. I love Never Again.

Aside from their generic brand of rock, they are without a doubt lyrically the worst band of this generation. Their lyrics are insulting to the intelligence. Silver Side Up's only upside was some good (if uncomplicated) meaty riffs....but the lyrics dragged a lot of those songs down.

the next album album while not god-awful was worse, and I can't stand their newest album, its by far their worst.

I dont like them because every one of their songs sound the same. I liked How You Remind Me, and it was a pretty big hit that year, but that doesn't mean you should make 90 percent of your songs sound like it.

Every so often I hear a song by them I like...Figured You Out was good, until the chorus, at which point it breaks down and sounds as generic as all their other songs. Rockstar was decent until I heard it for the 46th time in a four day stretch (and I rarely listen to the radio).

I'm not a fan of theirs either, but I like them better than Nickelback, probably because they're from Mississippi. Their country-rock vibe seems less pretentious. Their lyrics are a hell of a lot better.
I'm just not really a fan of the genre.

I don't mind them. There music is simple, and sometimes that is what I need. I listen to all types of music, and I could find much worse than this band. I could take many bands from the past, who may have better lyrics, but I am not a fan of their music. Hell, look at Nirvana, Cobain mumbled most of the time, yet, he is considered a god by many. They were a good band, but not that great. Not that Nickelback is a great band either.

For me, it all depends on the mood I am in. I probably could listen to any type of music, it is just a mood thing for me.
