I just checked imdb and Peter Billingsley is listed in the acting credits as "William" so it probably is the same role.

He had a bit part in The Break-Up - he was the guy who asked for Vince Vaughn's bowling shirt after he was kicked off the bowling team. I believe he also exec. produced the movie.

He and Vaughn work a lot.
