Poltergeist 2 is no where near as good as the first but what do you expect? its the sequal to a genre classic, This time around Carol ann is being stalked by kane an evil entity that wanted her to lead him in to the light in the first film, This was a right and wrong move in my opinion, Kane is in deed a very creepy old man(though he kind of looks like the guy on the quaker oat meal box) but it also gave way for a concrete explanation of the events from the first film, and that makes the events in this one less effective and erie. an other down side is the whole Indian spiritualality that the charictor taylor brought in to the movie,(not needed in my opinion). This film does also have strong points, The first strong point is that the origianal family (excluding the older sister) is back and are developed just as well as in the first, still felt like I was part of it. Another good thing were the latex effects, they were pretty much as good as in the first. But my final complaint is the climax, it wasnt very climatic in fact beating Kane was far to effortless.
all in all 6.5/10

Not as strong as the original by no means. However, Julian Beck's Reverend Henry Kane was just downright creepy. He scared the hell out of me when I was kid.

The original is a gem in my collection but never got around to seeing 2 and 3.
would you recomend them?

I would recommend part two, as before Julian Beck's performance is spine shivering (especially the scene when he tries to get inside the Freelings house), even though his preacher's attire is just plain laughable. Part three sucked balls, mostly due to fact that the girl who played Carol Ann died during the filming so the director was force to reshoot a lot of scenes, thus ruining the impact of the entire movie (not that it would have made much of a fucking difference.)

The second one is fairly decent, although does get a bit wishy-washy toward the end.

It has its moments but the CGI is laughable. I dug the character of Kane and it's a crime that Heather O'Rourke is no longer with us.
