One of my all-time favorite horror remakes. Gory as hell, characters you wouldn't suspect to die, bite the dust (loved the fact the football jock got blobbed twenty minutes into the movie, also even kids aren't safe in this one.) Top-knotch effects (some of them haven't aged well, but this well before CGI,) Kevin Dillion's mullet, and Shawnee Smith transformation from squeaky clean cheerleader into Ellen Ripley. What are your guys opinions???

One of the small number of remakes that ended up being better than the original, I really enjoyed it, good effects with some great gore, the acting was decent as well. Really fun film. 9/10

The effects are bad ass. I love it when the girl's face just randomly caves in. Awesome stuff.

This definetly one of those movies thst slipped thru the cracks. Presonally i thought it was great! I can't even count how many times i watched this one. When the guy gets sucked down the kitchen drain!?! How cool was that!!! I have no problem addmiting that this is one of my favorites.

I loved this movie. It's the kind of creature feature the genre is made of - gooey effects, likeable characters, a groovy sinister vibe that never compromised its sense of fun while still being mean as hell in dispatching its victims. Watching Shawnee Smith's evolution from bubbly cheerleader to Rambette was a treat in itself, and Kevin Dillon's mullet speaks for itself. As far as I'm concerned, it deserved its own billing.

This is my all time favorite film from the 80's as well as remakes go. I have the poster on my wall and another folded in mint condition. I alos bought the cd from alien that has the title credits song "brave new love".

Yes, this film breaks the rules as you don't the people you think are going to survie die and kids die that never happnes. This film is a classic. I want this on Blu-ray!!!

Also Shawnee Smith is such a beautiful and hot actress this movie made me turn to a die hard fan of hers.

THE BLOB - 10/10

I will post pics of the posters ASAP.

Yeah, this is how a remake should be done. Its not a perfect film. But as far as movies about blobs go. This is the best one. I used to think Kevin Dillion was so cool with the leather jacket, long hair and bad ass attititude. How times change.

I loved The Blob. I remember the critics hated it when it came out. I saw it with my brother in the theater, and it rocked. I saw it recently on cable and it still rocks.

The surreal deaths of this movie still today freak me the fuck out to the point where I'd rather not re-watch it.

It's rare that a remake surpasses the original. Critics and purists can go fuck themselves.

This poster makes me do a sex-wee:

That's exactly the kind of imagery that makes me want to go ball myself in the corner and repress the memories!

Stupid fucking surrealist monster and people melting and girl getting her face sucked in and kid getting melted and dude fucking pushed into a drainpipe and cop broken in half and *puke*

Yessum , it's one of the best horror films ever made , it's just about perfect in every way , and the visual effects still pack a punch , overall . I love Kevin Dillon in this , freak his turn on that Entourage show , this is his best role , the penultimate anti hero .

This film had balls , they weren't afraid to kill anyone off , i love the story , the acting , and the action , the scene in the sewer was a horror geeks dream , when i saw it at the drive in the first time , i was transfixed to the screen during this sequence . This is another one of those rare films that , once all hell breaks loose , the level of tension is maintained consistently throughout the remaining running time , brilliant pacing .

I so wanted to see a sequel , because this freakin thing deserved it , but Freddy and Jason and Micheal were still popular at the time , so we just got more of that , Blob kind of got overlooked , but man , it's a spectacular horror film , one of the best of that decade and all time .

I don't know man , this thing screamed for a sequel , and it would have made sense , it left you wanting more , not like all the unnecessary cash in sequels that we got with the big 3 .

Now this is a film that can benefit from a remake , uh oh , i used a " four " letter word . In the right hands an update can be just as killer as the remake .

A big , anonymous , gelatinous , unstoppable , ball of liquid , one of the most violent and unsettling baddies in any horror film , and it has more personality than a good number of horror villains past and present , that's a special effect in itself , the film is brilliant in every respect .

Anyone who loved this seen "Creepshow 2"?

"The Raft" is very similar.

Spoilers

Yep , that was also highly enjoyable , and it also featured a young Shawnee Smith . It contained more suspense in it's short running time than some 2 hour films . I give them props , they made a giant " trash bag " menacing , but there were some excellent effects on the actual raft also ( tell me you weren't biting your fingernails when they were trying to avoid the spaces between the wooden planks ) , and the end was out of nowhere , loved it .

Badass movie, one of the better horror flicks from the 80's. A CGI remake would totally ruin it, and i expect they will one of these days.

Love it.

Had to get it imported from Norway as it was never released on DVD here in England.

They were gonna remake it for a second time, had it's own IMDB page and everything. but that's gone now, hopefully for good!

I would have only seen the sequel if there was one only if Shawnee smith and Kevin Dillon came back.
