Late of the Pier are an English four-piece band from Castle Donington, currently signed to Parlophone Records. They have released three singles to date (Space and the Woods/Heartbeat, Bathroom Gurgle/VW and The Bears are Coming), with an album scheduled for release in 2008, preceded by a re-recorded single release of Space and the Woods, teamed with double A-side 'Focker' on May 19 2008.

there's hints of gary numan, depeche mode and more...frank zappa according to wiki...i guess i hear that and slight shades of david byrne on bathroom gurgle. anyway i really like them and highly anticipate their upcoming album.

i like the fact that they throw the traditional verse/chorus/verse musical construct out the window...it makes for very interesting sounds. i certainly don't find them "jumpy" as that would imply that they are being slapdash and i don't believe that for a moment. i think it's rare for a band to produce 3/4 such polished, strong and identifiable TRACKS and amazing VIDEOS before they have even released their debut album. it shows HUGE promise.

the remix you posted is cool enough, it's on the right side of disco...the first minute had me worried as the maraca's were giving it a distinct barry manilow flavour. i still favour the original and it's dirty, slightly industrial sound and the sweet video is killer accompaniment..however the end bit where the song takes a turn sounds really good in the remix.

They're okay, I'm getting a bit sick of these trendy synth bands, but I will say i'd stick on Crystal Castles over these on most days.
