IESB.net has learned, via an interview with director Peter Segal, that the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and "Corpse Bride" team of Tim Burton, John August and Johnny Depp are reuniting for Dark Shadows.

Burton will reportedly direct the Warner Bros. feature based on the '60s supernatural TV show from a script by August. Johnny Depp's Infinitum-Nihil and GK Films are producing and Depp has had interest in playing Barnabas Collins, the vampire patriarch of the series, but that hasn't been confirmed.

Over 1,225 episodes, "Dark Shadows" was a highly atmospheric, spooky soap that featured gothic horror staples like vampires, monsters, witches, werewolves, ghosts and zombies.

---------------

Interesting. I'd like to see what Burton does with it. Though it'd be hard to top "House of Dark Shadows" for me.

Tim Burton and Johnny Depp doing a gothic adaptation of previously published material?

Thats unheard of!!!

all 'surprises' aside, eh, why not. I can already imagine what this thing will look like.

You can't go wrong with Burton and Depp.

You just can't.

But which "Dark Shadows" stories will they tell? They can't do the early ones without Barnabas and afterward we had the then present-day stories, but they were followed by the past/time travel episodes and then the parallel history episodes.

Does anyone remember the series and the introductions before each episode? I'm trying to remember the one from the seance episodes but can't recall the entire thing.

"A seance has been held in Collinwood... one which has suspended time and space.
"And Victoria Winters finds herself lost...
"The faces are familiar... but the names and relationships have changed."

I loves 'em both. But they do appear to be a go-to duo.

Can't hate the playa(s), though. That'd make me a hata.

Depp and Burton are a solid duo.

Despite the fact that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was the biggest disappointment of all time, I look forward to this.

I haven't seen the original soap, but the 90's primetime revival was great.
