Lionsgate has announced that it has acquired US and Canadian distribution rights to "Transporter 3." Jason Statham returns as iconic action hero Frank Martin in the third installment of the EuropaCorp-produced series.

Olivier Megaton directs from a script written by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen. Lionsgate will release the film at Thanksgiving, on November 26th, 2008. The film, starring Robert Knepper ("Prison Break") alongside Statham and returning cast member Francois Berleand (Place Vendome), wrapped principal photography in early May and is currently in post-production.

The studio expressed excitement about the project, stating, "We are thrilled to be in business with EuropaCorp and to also partner again with Jason Statham, who from 'War' to 'Crank' and its upcoming sequel, is a well known and well-loved leading man in so many of Lionsgate's high octane action films. We are delighted to add another film in the exciting 'Transporter' action franchise to stand alongside such other iconic Lionsgate franchises as 'Saw,' 'Tyler Perry' and 'The Punisher.

I'll see it, I just hope it's not as disappointing* as the second.

*The "final fight" between Stratham and the blonde was pathetically short.

Hopefully it'll be good this time. If the trend continues, it should.

Transporter - 3/10
Transporter 2 - 5/10

So if this keeps up then Transporter 3 should be a 7/10. :D

Transporter 2 really dissapointed me because it was way to over the top but hopefully part 3 is better. Also its has Robert Knepper in it, another reason for me to want to see it.

Transporter 2 was a lot better than the first film, if it's as silly and fun as that I'll be happy.

Sorry but Knepper will never be anything other than T-Bag for me. The fact that he's playing a villian here doesn't help either.

If I were him I'd do something radically different for his next movie or he will forever be typecast if he isn't already.

I'd like to see Knepper in another movie, his T-Bag rep didnt ruin really his character in Hitman.

As for the Transporter franchise, one was good blast o' fun but the sequel was too over the top. Lets hope they keep it a little more grounded like the orginal.

I agree. The last two were good fun. Statham's the man.

Could there possibly be a better action movie director's name than "Megaton?" I don't think so.

The first movie was good. Loved the second one. Look forward to this.

Simply put: "I fucks with it." It looks better than the 2nd one (if that makes any sense). I also like the little nod to Lock, Stock... with the use of "I Wanna Be Your Dog" by The Stooges....

I wish Statham would realize he has potential to do other material. I mean he did a movie like The Bank Job which is somewhat similar to his action movies but very different still and that is easily the best film he has done. He needs to move on. He has talent, I wish he would utilize it more.
