This is Disturbed's newest album that came out on tuesday. I picked it up, having read that it was going to be darker/harder than their previous coupla albums. I love their first 3, but I've gotta say I was less than impressed with this newest one.

I've only listened to it about 3 times or so.... I've gotta say my main complaint is that a lotta the songs sound the same.... Though there ARE some excellent solo's in some of the songs like "Torn" by Dan Donegan, that're quite impressive.

I think I may need to listen to it a bit more for it to grow on me... The good thing is, I DO like 8 outta the 12 songs that're on the disc. The ones I didn't care for were Criminal, The Night, The Curse and Indestructible. The latter seemingly sounding like a pro-war song with the main lyrics being "I'm an indestructible master of war" which conflicts heavily with my anti-war stance.

I've also seen Disturbed live in concert, and as far as CD's I love them as a band. As for the live show, I was also less than impressed, especially when singer Draiman went on and on about his political and war views, etc. when most at the concert could give 2 shits less about that. Just play your fucking music for fuck's sake!

The best songs on the disc that I've liked so far would be Perfect Insanity, Deceiver, Divide and probably Facade.

Anyway, just thought I'd start this topic up and see if anyone else has bought/heard the new album and their opinions on it. I'm sure it'll grow on me with a few more listens, but it's certainly their weakest album to date, which is especially disappointing following their last & what I felt to be a FANTASTIC album in 10,000 Fists.

Bake, I kinda thought that for 10,000 Fists when I first heard it too.... But then after a few more listens, the songs were unique enough (IMO) that it wasn't a problem for me at that point. I really liked their last album too. Most the reviews of this new album over at Amazon.com are 5 stars, which I didn't quite understand why.... But whatever.

If I hadda rank their 4 albums I'd do it this way:

1. The Sickness
2. 10,000 Fists
3. Believe
4. Indestructible

Actually I'd prolly tie 10,000 Fists & Believe for number 2. I think Disturbed do better when they're being more alternative rock, then when trying to be metal. Though the 2 hardest songs from both Believe & Fists (Liberate & Avarice) are significantly harder and more well done than any of the songs on Indestructible (save for perhaps Perfect Insanity).

Speaking of Perfect Insanity, I don't know how many of you know this.... But it was a song that Disturbed did back in 2000, I don't know if it was a single or what.... I didn't like it at all then, but I remember the video showing Draiman in a straight jacket when he had hair. I believe clips of the video/song can be seen on their DVD "M.O.L." if I'm not mistaken. It's amazing how much BETTER the song sounds now that they've got to tweak it and remix/add to it.

Criminal, The Night, The Curse and Indestructible.

You just listed my absolute favorite songs on the disc. Hahaha.

Indestructible is absolutely awesome. Disturbed keep getting better and better and I love every minute of Indestructible, not one bad apple of the bunch. One thing I love the most about Indestructible is that every song is so different from each other, outside of the fact that they were all written using the same structure, and each are thrill to listen to.

Long live DISTURBED!

1. Indestructible
2. Ten Thousand Fists
3. The Sickness
4. Believe

That's funny, "Believe" is probably my favorite ("Prayer", "Remember", "Liberate" are all incredible).

I love Disturbed, and thank god there's been few "Argh Disturbed sucks!" posts by this point. Still haven't listened to "Indestructable", but I intend to.

1. "Believe".
2. "10,000 Fists".
3. "The Sickness".

That's one thing I've really liked about the band in general. Each of their albums tend to be completely different from one another and each one has their own theme, as well as their own style. Meaning there's at least one for everyone.

You got your pointlessly aggressive, tongue-in-cheek The Sickness. Then you got Believe, their slower, more spiritually motivated album focusing on religion, spirituality and life after death. Then you have Ten Thousand Fist, their politically fueled anthem-style album designed to both create unity and fight for change. Now you have Indestructible, which is more or less a more personal album dealing more with inner issues and self-empowerment.

It's great stuff, I love 'em all. The only reason Believe is my least favorite of the bunch is just because out of the four, I feel it has the least variation in style between songs.

That it does.

But the songs are so incredibly catchy I just love it.

Heh.

Well after even MORE listens, the track "The Night" has become a favourite. I like half the songs, 6 outta the 12 on the disc, in my opinion Disturbed's WORST album yet, unfortunately. The songs I DO like are:

-Into the Flames
-Deceiver
-The Night
-Perfect Insanity
-Divide
-Facade

The other six songs (with the small exception of perhaps "Haunted") sound exactly the same to me, and I don't like Haunted cuz it just didn't do anything for me. A song like "Torn" is only worth listening to for the ridiculous (but good) solo by Donegan, otherwise it's a shitty/boring song that goes nowhere. I think I mentioned or maybe not, that a lotta the songs seem like they have a guitar solo, just for the sake of having one.... As in, the solo just comes outta nowhere and doesn't really fit in with the song. They're fantastic, and Donegan has actually become one of my top 5 guitarist's, as his playing just continues to improve with each new disc.

But in comparison to Disturbed's other 3 albums, Indestructible is an "EPIC FAIL" for me.

It's interesting that they didn't bother with guitar solos when nu-metal was the trend. Now, proto-thrash has experienced a resurgence, and suddenly, the guitarist can play solos. Disturbed is a terrible band.

They use to play solos before David joined the band. After David joined the band, Dan decided that David's voice was so strong and powerful that there was no need to put solos into songs. Especially since most of the songs were fine without them. The rest of the band has wanted him to put the solos back in for a while, and it wasn't until Ten Thousand Fists where Dan felt it was right.

It has nothing to do with trends, or whatever you want to think. It has everything to do with what the band feels is right.

I'm sure that they were told to say that in an interview. These radio-rock bands are just as pre-packaged as Carrie Underwood. It's all marketing. The label dictates the band's "artistic exploration." I know that I sound like a conspiracy theorist, but that's how the music business operates. Once solos became "cool" again, every band started playing more of them. And now, every teenager thinks that Ratt and Poison are awesome because of Guitar Hero.

I'm sidetracking myself. Disturbed is a terrible band. I'll shut up, though.

That would make sense if Disturbed didn't produce their last album by themselves. There was no producer, no representative of the record label sitting there telling them to put Solos in songs. It was their decision. Reprise Records may have distributed the album and may be making the profit of it's sales, but Disturbed had the last decision on every aspect of Indestructible. The solos weren't put there for any reason other than because they felt it was right.

listened to the CD a few times so far.... of all their cd's this one:

1) Has the BEST Cover Artwork (Deluxe Edition) (Second being 10,000 Fists)
2) Is the worst of the cd's.. but still kicks ass

my favorite track is The Night... that chorus is fucking amazing

the rest of the CD is pretty good... but not outstanding... yet it is Disturbed, and i thoroughly enjoy them... so it was good!

Terrible band. I'll give Draiman credit for looking like Howie Mandel.

I also think they are a terrible band...

But I didn't come here to just say that, I am apparently seeing them on Monday, perhaps they can win me over... I doubt it though.

To each, his own.

I agree with countchocula on this one, but for completely different reasons. Well, I mean I don't disagree with most of the things he said-in fact I agree with most of the things he said...but I just don't like them because they just aren't my kind of music. However, I checked out this thread because I came so close to buying this album today for some reason- not really sure why.

This is Disturbed's weakest album, without a doubt, but it's a solid hard rock album nevertheless. "The Night" is the highlight of Indestructible -- "Inside the Fire", "Deceiver", "Perfect Insanity", and "Enough" are good tracks as well. I'd probably give it a 7/10.

1. Believe
2. The Sickness
3. Ten Thousand Fists
4. Indestructible
