Spike Lee was right! Hollywood hates people of different races. Why wasn't there a main character in Flags of Our Fathers who was black? Or one in Letters from Iwo Jima? African Americans are a part of history! Were there no good black actors, Clint? Were there no African Americans who "raised the flag"? Bologna, Eastwood! Atleast Lee is making a movie about the African American soldiers in WWII, he's being honorable, unlike you!

Some people are too touchy, but there is a long and very real history that continues today of stereotyping non-white characters that results in a popular negative image being associated with real people of that race.

In other words, I don't think your hyperbole is that funny or on point. Yes, occasionally the over-sensitive will cry foul for no good reason, but more often Hollywood will not be criticized for their simplistic and racist depictions of minority characters be they black, latino, gay, Native American, Arab, Asian, etc.

Of course it's a joke. The subtext is the opposite of what the post actually says. He's making fun of people who rant against films being racist. But like Quentin has pointed out, it's true and could have been funnier. Sure, there's always going to be a few outspoken people being offended by a silly film, but that doesn't negate the fact that there are many films that do portray stereotypes.

I know there's tons of them, but I have a hard time thinking of movies in which white people aren't privileged, or lower class and not portrayed as low lives or criminals. If there is someone who is genuinely poor, the movie makes some plot point about them trying to succeed (8 Mile, Good Will Hunting). Then there's never a homeless person who's not outright fucking nuts.
