I can't remember the last time a piece of movie-news surprised and excited me this much. Just when he made us think that he was indeed retiring from directing (supposedly to follow his pursuit in producing music), it seems as if Cameron Crowe has bounced right back on the ball, hopefully to make up for the debacle that was Elizabethtown.
There's no doubt in my mind that Crowe is one of the most gifted writer/directors out there today and has always been a huge personal favorite of mine (Almost Famous is easily in my top twenty of all time). In my humble opinion, he's the best the filmmaker since Wilder in terms of knowing how to deliver a true romantic comedy, after all, just look at the horde of memorable scenes and characters he has created over the past decade., With this new project of his with Ben Stiller and Reese Witherspoon, there's no doubt in my mind he'll bring us something fresh and exciting to the increasingly redundant genre (again, I think it would be best for all of us to just ignore Elizabethtown).
I will most definitely be keeping a close eye on this one.
