I used to like McCain, but he's proven to be incompetent. He sends mixed messages to supporters and detractors alike. He thinks that the war was mishandled, but he also contests that we are winning in Iraq (despite the fact that there is no way to "win" this war). He needs to stop trying to please everyone all of the time.

Obama/Clinton '08!

Hold your tongue (err..fingertips?) count, an Obama/Clinton ticket is not something that should happen.

Also, I don't know if it's a good or bad thing but now that we have vbulletin the  smiley has lost any real level of effect. Now it doesn't look like 'yeah that's fucking stupid' it looks more like 'hey look that's a post up there :)!'

Anyone catch him with his fly open on that one speech back in '05? No, neither did I. No one really cares...

McCain's unintentional hilarity is a tough act to follow, but otherwise I'm sure this response is comic gold. ;)

Some of McCain's ads are kind of odd.

I understand here, he's just trying to relate to wrestling fans, but it comes off so much less natural than when he's on SNL or just joking around:

http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/Multimedia/Player.aspx?guid=fa6ef3fa-d912-461d-af6b-945581f0acb8

Then this was the ad I wanted to mention earlier.

What bugs me isn't McCain as much as the video - namely the lighting. Why is his face shadowed on the left side through the whole video?

I know this seems like an odd criticism (It's really just about the video production) but this is wrong, I mean, so technically wrong. Namely, that the shadow never changes is relation to everything else happening on the screen. Why would there be a shadow on the same side as the glowing picture?

http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/Multimedia/Player.aspx?guid=fc1659e3-52d0-4478-8000-64b325ce01ff

Rail me for taking such issue with that poor use of shadows, but it's so wrong that I'm inclined to believe there's some sort of subliminal advertising at work here. Other than him having a stroke and not having movement on his left side, it really makes me wonder why they are putting so much focus on his right side. This is really obvious stuff, which is why this will probably be the only time you ever hear it mentioned.

"John McCain, taking the focus off the left." - new campaign slogan

You know what embitters and perturbs me the most? The disproportionate contrast between his tie pattern and shirt color. If a candidate cannot get that right, how can he run a country? A FUCKING shirt color!

That's pretty bad. I'm considering singing McCain's version with my band just to see if it will piss off enough younger people to possibly vote.

Haha, the  is reminding me of Zach Galifianakis' Pretentious Illiterate impersonation...

"I told you... I can't read."

I'm making a general statement here. I just often see it used for the sake of it rather than when somebody makes a good point.

Here's an ad that would have been good in 1954: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2XTDHltNVU

I know what you mean. If he can't get a good stylist what hope is there that he'll get a good FEMA director.

Actually, on a serious note, Obama's been dressing pretty sharp, able to mix casual and business with good touch; McCain, in contrast, perpetually looks like he just woke up from his daily nap...which likely isn't too far from the truth.

McCain's been busting his ass, since he's clinched the nomination so early. They say that they run 24/7 during primaries, but I just don't believe it. What would be left for the final race then?

McCain wears nice suits and IMO presents himself well (that two-faced video I posted early was an indictment against the production/direction of the video, not McCain - I just thought it'd be something people interested in film would gawk at.) When McCain interviews, he generally does so well with a good sense of humor and a good tone. I think the problems he's facing now is overexposure, which indicates a potential issue for someone who's going for the most exposed job in the world. Just look at the original Bubba Strangelove, Bill Clinton - we all knew he was a sex fiend, but not just the extent until we had him in our microscope for 8 years.

Obama though, is just a, well... He's a good lookin guy. Young, slim, good posture... You could put both him and McCain in tailor made Valentino suits and Obama is just going to look better. This is a phenomenon faced by older people, which is probably why you generally see so many abandoning updating their wardrobes once they hit 50. This is probably why the biggest compliment they get in regards to their wardrobe is "You wear it well."

I think Obama and McCain are both very charismatic, and very well-spoken. IMO, these will be the best debates most of will have yet seen - at least best in terms of not being hilarious. In terms of hilarity, 87 - 91 were prime years, thanks to select VP picks.

Yeah, it's debate time!
