Children who were taught Nazi ideology by their parents were taken to the authorities to have a permanent custody of the kids.

A couple from Manitoba province, Canada lost custody of their children when it was found about their attempts to impose Nazi beliefs and racists feelings on their children. Two children, a seven-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy were removed from their parents and are cared by the local Child and Family Services .

The court ruled in favor of the government authorities, who wanted to preserve the children's emotional well-being from their white supremacist parents.

Winnipeg Free Press announced that the case was revealed after the event happening on March 25, when a girl appeared in school with a sign of swastika and Nazi markings "14/88" on her arms and one leg.

The numbers had a Nazi symbolism with 14 referring to a 14 words slogan: "We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children", while 88 refer to the "Heil Hitler" words.

The man is known to be a white supremacist, who cared for his stepdaughter and his son. In 2005 he was presumed to be involved in "hate crimes" related to children. He told that he has dedicated his entire life to being a skinhead and is not going to change. His wife, who called herself a "white nationalist", was considered by court to be unfit for parenting.

The govt doesn't/or shouldn't have a right to take the children just because the parents are teaching a certain ideology, as disgusting and hateful it is. In America there are communities basically raising their children to hate Jews and minorities openly though no action is taken.

If it comes to the kids using the parents words to act out violently against others, then yes, but otherwise, i dont think so.

Thoughts?

I can't say with certainty, but aren't Canadian laws different in terms of anti-semitism and Nazi propaganda, as in they are closer to a no-tolerance policy than in the US?

Not quite.
Canada's policy towards hate-crimes (and in this case anti-semitism) is mixed depending on the severity. If other people are being affected or influenced by the hate-crime, then the government steps in...this is especially the case when children are involved. The perfect example was Ernst Zundel, a native-born German who taught to his elementary school students in Quebec in the 70s and 80s that 6 million Jews did not die in the Holocaust and it was one big conspiracy. He was influencing the children to believe in nonsense and action had to be taken.

It's hard to say whether the same can be applied to this case. I mean they are the parents of the children and have the same rights to raise their children a certain way just like others parents (though I don't believe that myself). However, the notion of parens patriae has generally been enforced in Canada as of late, with many cases brought forth that involve children being harmed physically, emotionally or psychologically. This includes the polygomist community in BC recently under investigation after the incident in Texas, fearing similar treatment being used on the children in BC as they were in Texas.

And notchreturns, there isn't a "huge" anti-semitism problem in the Canada as that article might suggest. There are cases where Jewish schools, libraries, cemetaries and temples have been desecrated, vanadalized or even burnt down. But the cases are blown out of proportion and immediately labelled as anti-semitic without proper investigation. Most acts, if they were racially or religiously motivated, are normally due to reactions abroad in the Middle East. When Israel invaded Lebanon two years ago, there was a massive backlash against the Jews.

However, reactionary attacks are not limited to Jews. Muslim buildings have also been targeted in the past, especially after 9/11.

I was having a hard time phrasing that, but this is how I took it. Canada isn't as hardcore about it as Germany, but more-so than the US.

Personally, I think it was a good decision. It borders on child abuse and isn't a matter of personal choice when your choices potentially infringe on the right to live of others. Making your kid shave his head and go to school looking like a dork is one thing, but telling him you are doing it because it shows your alliance toward the hate of Jews is another.

(Bubba waits for Pers1an Blu3* fans to pounce him....)

Pretty sure that's not what he was saying; in fact, jolanar was darkly joking, and someguy was noting he felt it wasn't cool. Otherwise:
