So i went to see The Happening, and as the trailers came on there was no sound. So most people started to get annoyed, especially this one woman who was very annoyed at the fact that she came early to see the previews, and yet there is no sound. Not going to argue with that. It wasn't bothering me, but i would get pissed if the flick started and it was still mute.

Anyways, the sound came on and off and more people got up to complain. I was still not really bummed out, due to the fact that some of the trailers didn't seem interesting and others i saw already. So this other lady gets up and looks at the people sitting down and starts to say, "They would probably move their asses if you guys would get up from your seats and say something!"

Uh.......no thanks. Alot of people have gotten up with the original lady complaining, so i think they are getting the fucking point. Plus, the movie hasn't even fucking started, so I'll start getting frustrated if the movie is going and there is no sound. If people were upset, they would get up to complain....but there not! YOU ARE! So deal with it and don't fucking antagonize myself and others for not starting a damn conflict.......jeez....:D

(Oh, and the sound came on at least 15 seconds during the credits....so if i missed something important.....make sure you schmoes let me know!)

holy shit, people cannot even complain right in this country. they have to have someone else do it for them.

While I believe there is "strength in numbers," they get the point after the first one. After several people start complaining, they start to get annoyed. If anything, they were fixing the problem . . . it just took a while for it to be fixed. Like the guy said, it came in during the credits (I'm assuming the opening credits).

I just hate when people feel that they're obligated to complain because there is a problem. "Patience is a virtue."

This happens half the time I see a movie. The sound fucks up, or they don't dim the lights. Maybe the reel isn't starting and there's a minute of blank screen.

I do get a little agitated by inexperienced theater employees not having there shit together, but I'm very patient. I get more frustrated by the crowd. They start whining, and making comments and it's not getting anything done quicker so I wish they would just shut the fuck up. Just deal with it quietly yourself.

And yes, if one person is seen getting up and handling it then there's no point in more people getting up and bitching about the same thing. It's embarrassing when half the audience is acting like babies over something so insignificant that always gets straightened out. Some people need to grow up.

Trailers are sent on seperate reels and then spliced onto the main picture so having a problem with the previews does not mean that you are going to have a problem with the film. So letting them know once or twice is usually enough, most people just don't have the patience for them to fix the problem.

Trailers actually come wrapped around tiny plastic cores. No reels involved.
A lot of the times with an issue like this it means the trailers soundtrack isnt being read by whatever readers they have hooked up to the soundwall for that projector. Im sure after the first complaint the projectionist was informed and went to troubleshoot. Further agitation on the part of the audience is really pointless. Some people just assume they have the right to insist upon their reality being the correct one.

Amen.

It seems people nowadays piss, moan, and whine too much as it is.
