Hey all,

In case anyone is interested in ninja turtles or liked the TMNT movie, I just an interesting interview with Peter Laird (one of the creators of the turtles) over at newsarama.com.

When asked about the sequel to TMNT, Laird said:

"I'm not sure that we will be working with Imagi on the sequel -- I'd like to, but we're looking into other options. I can't really talk about it in detail, but there are several interested parties we're talking to. One of the things which seems to appeal to everyone is this idea of doing what people are calling a "hybrid" movie -- one where most of it will be live-action, but the Turtles would be very realistically rendered CGI characters. I think that could be, if done correctly, incredibly cool. One thing that I would love to see happen is to try to get Sarah Michelle Gellar and Chris Evans (who performed the voices of April O'Neil and Casey Jones in the 2007 computer-animated TMNT movie) to reprise those roles in a sequel... but as live-action versions of April and Casey. I think that would be wicked cool! As far as I know, at this point they have not been asked, and I have no idea if they would be interested in doing it. I can hope, though!"

I have mixed feelings about this, but maybe...

woops! Here is the link to the complete interview: http://www.newsarama.com/comics/080610-TMNT25-Laird.html

"Wicked cool." I laughed at that phrase . . . I don't know why.

I rather enjoyed the animated movie, though it had its issues. I live action-CGI hybrid flick would be cooler in my opinion . . . especially if they keep the dark tones and stay away from the kiddie fare like they did in the 90s (though I kinda enjoyed those too . . . when I was a kid. They're still good nostalgically).

Whatever it is, I hope it's a vast improvement over TMNT.

TMNT was a great movie. I grew up on the 80s and then the 90s live action movies, but the new movie was easily the best since the original live action movie. I'd love to see another.

I really liked TMNT. Its the only good Turtles movie along with the first one. I just wish it was longer and Donny was in it more. Donny is my favorite:(

I hope they make a sequel.

I really liked TMNT.

I'd like to see the suits return, Gellar and CG reminds me of Scooby Doo.

The story was retarded, but I liked what they did with TMNT. I would actually be disappointed if they did this "hybrid" thing. Sounds dumb (Like Scooby Doo dumb). Just stick with the CG animation. Some of that stuff looked great and it was a relatively small budget. I wonder why they wouldn't use the same company again.

I hated the new movie. I grew up on the turtles like most of you, and maybe I expected more? I don't know, it just didn't work for me. I did hype it up for myself because I loved the turtles as a kid. I had every toy, watched all the movies, tv shows, anything about them.

the movie was good for what it was, a longer somewhat twisted episode of the TMNT animated series that I grew up with as a kid. I thought it was awesome at being a turtles movie. I did want more ass kicking though, and less raph being the outcast, yet again.

i dunno if i would to the live action thing, it would kinda ruin the action scenes for me and it sounds a bit stupid. How completely insane was that scene when Leo and Raph's weapons r slicing through the rain in slow motion? Can't do that in live action, or at least you can't do it well.

i like the idea of the live-action with cgi turtles. as long as its done well. i don't think kids these days would buy the guys in suits that we all grew up with. they are all to much into their jar jars and hanna montanas and shiz. haha.

but as for TMNT i thought it was ok. it had some flaws though. one thing was donetello's voice... we need corey feldman back!!!

Guys in suits is the only way to go. The first Turtles movie holds up surprisingly and incredibly well.

I thought the first two were great. The third one was different, and didn't feel like a turtles movie.

They can do a cartoon/animation movie, they did it for years with a tv show.

They need to go back to the old school comic days where the Ninja Turtles were badass and the stories were dark as hell.

They need to do a live action one again.

I want a live action R rated Turtles movie. :(

I enjoyed TMNT, and I thought a sequel (possibly with The Shredder) would be totally cool. This idea, however, sounds absolutely ridiculous. This would probably ruin the franchise (brings back scary images of the Scooby Doo movies).

Considering everyone that grew up on the Turtles is now 18+ I think an R rated live action/CGI/300-style hybrid film would kick ass; and shell!

I don't think the kids who watch the current cartoon are 18 and over...

The turtles weren't mature when I was growing up and I think it would be sort of stupid to take it in that direction.

The comic that spawned them was pretty damn violent, actually. From the start, the Turtles were intended to be a parody of Frank Miller's 300, amongst other things. So no, it wouldn't be stupid. It would be the exact opposite of stupid.

One of the greatest things in the world is watching the end of the first season of the 2003 Ninja Turtles series, and seeing Leonardo decapitate Shredder. Just like the comic. That was a glorious day. Man, it breaks my heart that they cut that series off in the middle of an awesome storyline and turned it into a lame 'turtles in the future doing stupid shit' cartoon. Oh well. It ran three seasons longer than I expected something like that to.

I know about the comics, but i'm willing to bet that a whole helluva lot of other people didn't grow up on that.

Who the hell would pay to see an R Rated Turtles movie?

A 13 year old kid not being allowed to see TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES movie?!

C'mon. Just give us something in the tone of the first film.
