I could not sit through Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer completely. It displeased me. And I love Silver Surfer!

Through Comingsoon comes the news that SciFi Scanner caught up with J. Michael Straczynski recently and talked to him a little about his SILVER SURFER spin-off. Fox was of course, planning to develop it after the second FANTASTIC FOUR movie:

"Whether or not it ever gets made I don't know because they were kind of disappointed in how 'Fantastic Four 2' did... And given how this will be a subset of FF2 in terms of the marketing strategy, I think there is hesitation there about putting it forward. The script is pretty good, I like it, but whether or not it goes into production, I have no idea."

He added that the movie was to "pick up literally the next frame after the FF2 movie, where you find out why Silver Surfer was there and what happened to him. We would have seen Galactus, his home world, what happened and him trying to get back there, because now that he's betrayed Galactus, he's concerned his home world might be in jeopardy."

You'll find the rest of the interview HERE. What you won't find is how badly Tim Story messed up the FANTASTIC FOUR movies, since arithmeticians and Nobel laureates agree that there is in fact no way to accurately quantify it.

FF2 very disappointing (should have had a clue after the first FF), a silver surfer flick sounds interesting but only if the start 100% fresh and no tie in to the shit that is Fantastic Four (such a let down).

Nice to hear some World War Z news. Even if it was only two questions.

It makes sense that they're doing a sequel, if you wait until the end of the God awful FF2, and watch some of the credits, you see SSurfer floating in space and his eyes blink.

As far as this movie is concerned?..

I'll probably see it, but not on my buck.. either my friend will pay for it (while its in theatres) , or it'll be rented.. either that or I'll watch it on HBO.

Just keep Tim Story away from it and they'll probably be alright. Both F4 movies weren't very good . . . although the Silver Surfer was pretty cool. I say give it a shot.

Eh, I enjoyed both movies and thought FF2 was actually pretty good.

Anyway, IMDB has Alex Proyas "rumored" to be directing Silver Surfer.

And I never read the comics, but I hear everyone bitching about Galactus. Isn't he basically a giant robot/man the size of planets? Yeah, that's kinda dumb.

Id LOVE a Silver Surfer movie. He was the only half-way descent thing about FF2.

.....BUT id pretend like the other FF movies NEVER existed AT ALL. Its better that way. MUCH better.:mad:

I say make a new fantasic four movie and finish it rite>Have Silver surfer come back because galactus is not dead and have him team with the ff to save earth from galactus.THEN THEY CAN MAKE A SPIN OFF.Fantastic four should be done justice..They have a good history.She hulk ,namor,the in humans,dr doom,galactus,even the father of the blind chick...they gotta be done justice.

Silver Surfer definately needs his own film. He's a total badass and one hell of a tragic character. Bring it on I say! Get the horrible taste of the FF out of our mouthes.

I hated the 1st ff film...the 2nd ,tho done very sloppy, was an improvement..better than X3 to me.But it wasnt done rite.They need a new director who knows the comics.FF has to many characthers involved to just die out.

I thought I didnt care for FF1 too much.but that one is a masterpiece compared to FF2..utter shit..and SS character was HORRENDOUSLY rendered, acted, etc...let it die
