This is one of my all time favorite films. I was wondering if we will ever get to see a sequel? I recently re-watched this film a few days ago cause I was listening to a band called BLEEDING THROUGH and they have soundbits from the film and I was like I have not watched the film in a while.

Doesany one have any information?

It's to be called Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day..

The director who directed the first one, will be directing the second, words directly from his mouth (http://www.movieweb.com/news/06/27406.php).

Duffy's an ass, the first film is terribly overrated and the only reason he has been talking about Boondock Saints 2 for the past ten years is to sell merchendise through his site.

blah. talk of BS2 has been circulating the boards since JoBlo started them.

This film will suffer greatly without Rocco. Easily the best part of the first film.

I thought he was the worst . . . he annoyed the hell out of me.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed the first . . . I just watched it a few weeks ago and it's a pretty solid movie. I'm curious to see where the story goes in the sequel. I'm hoping the actors who played the main characters return.

Trust me, the world doesn't need another BOONDOCK SAINTS.

What does "need" have to do with anything?

I personally like Rocco.

I thought the movie started sucking when the father got involved.

So I dont know if i am looking forward to a 2nd that includes him, Il Duce.

have you seen Overnight?? Cuz that is one of the best documentaries produced about the making of any film, and that film is Boondock Saints and how much of an ass hole Duffy was! Its awesome

but Boondock Saints 2; All Saints day is fast becoming the "Chinese Democracy" (Guns & Roses album) of the film world! Every year there is rumor that its getting made and coming soon, but alas, those are all just rumors and who knows if the world will ever see it!

Because the first one was bad enough. We don't need another.

Yeah Sky, Duffy is a total fuckass.

And I ask again . . . what does "need" have to do with anything?

We know we don't need it, but if Hollywood feels like making it, they will. I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel, since I enjoyed the first, but it's not something that I need to have.

Hmm either you aren't understanding me or I'm not understanding you. Basically, the first one took away valuable time for whoever watched it. The world doesn't need another one. It'll just waste more time of many people. Hence why the world doesn't need a sequel.

Probably a little bit of both. :D

I'm just saying that a lot of times, sequels aren't needed. But whether they have enough fans or end up straight-to-DVD, they get made.

Fair points, I'm just not a fan of films I don't like getting sequels. Sorry for the confusion.

Got this tidbit from Wikipedia:

Pre-production on the film started in early September and the first day of shooting is stated to begin October 20 in Canada. Some scenes may be shot in Boston depending on the film's financing. It has been announced by Duffy that there will be a lead female actress in the sequel (not a love interest). The sequel is supposed to take place 10 years after The Boondock Saints

On October 29, 2008, Troy Duffy revealed that Julie Benz is going to be the female lead and protégé of Agent Paul Smecker (Willem Dafoe's character from the first film), named Eunice. Troy Duffy has been keeping a video diary of the movie's progress on YouTube, with some of the shooting sequences, and "question and answer" segments from fans answered by the film's stars.

Any thoughts?

Wait, so there's no Dafoe? If that's the case, that makes me lose interest for this flick.

I don't think it was because of any lack of faith in the project; Dafoe has this experimental theater organization called The Wooster Group that he spends most of his time with, and in all honesty he's suggested his film projects are primarily done to support that endeavor. While I know he's not personally as active in it anymore, the world of theatre seems to be where most of his passion is.

can't see this being anywhere near the first one, or even a 7+ movie on the scales.

however, Chinese Democracy turned out to be a great album, so i guess ill just have to wait.

I would personally disagree with that one, but I get the general point.

Does anybody know if this will get a theatrical release? I'd like to see it at a theater, but my guess is that it's going to be DTV.

No way, this will be a theatrical release for sure. The first one didn't get one here because of the timing. And while the flick found its massive success through DVD the franchise has such a fanbase it will easily make some box office $
