Collider got the chance to speak to producers Mark Canton, Gianni Nunnari and Bernie Goldmann during the Saturn Awards, finding out that the trio are working on a new Greek mythology film and a possible "300 prequel.

Canton and Nunnari were having too good of a time to get any solid answers from them, but the site learned that their new movie is "War of Gods," which is another Greek mythology epic. Two writers already wrote the script, which director Tarsem Singh (The Fall, The Cell) read and agreed to make. They are expecting to begin filming in the first quarter of 2009.

While no details have been released, Nunnari explained that it's "a step back from 300. It's a big war between the gods, the Titans and the humans." Regarding the "300" prequel, Collider was able to confirm what Canton and Nunnari said. Apparently Frank Miller is working on a new story and if it turns out to be good, a new film will be made.

The War of Gods film could be good.

But a 300 prequel or sequel is just a terrible Idea.

"War of Gods" sounds like a ripoff of "God of War."

I wouldn't go that far. While I'm not a fan of a second go at this film...there is room for a prequel or sequel. Potentially they could show the Battle of Marathon where Darius (father of Xerxes) invades Athens only to be stomped out by the Greeks.

It could be interesting.

Ooo, the Battle of Marathon would be an awesome choice for a prequel.
Plus it would potentially contain the one and only moment where you could legitimately product-place Nike in a Historical-Fantasy war film. :D

Ever see A Knight's Tale? They etch Nike symbols into Heath Ledger's armor.

I love Greek mythology and "War of Gods" sounds like a great idea, as long as it's executed properly.

I reserve the right to offer an opinion on a 300 prequel at a later time.

That would be cool, though if that's the case . . . I wouldnt' call it a prequel to 300. Just another historical epic.

And the War of Gods sounds like it'll be a kickass movie.

While I have yet () to see The Fall that alone has me interested in War Of Gods.

I could do without another 300 movie and kids my age who like it more claiming this is now the greatest movie of all time. But I can welcome a Greek mythological epic from the guy who directed the video for "Losing My Religion."

I wish they wouldn't do a prequel/sequel to 300. We don't need to start giving Seltzer and co a reason to do a Meet the Spartans 2

More on the "300" Prequel:

Legendary Pictures has confirmed it is developing a "300" follow-up for Warner Bros that Frank Miller is writing and Zack Snyder is intended to direct. Miller is writing the graphic novel the project will be based upon, although at this point it's not clear whether it will be a prequel or spin-off. Most of the characters, including Gerard Butler's King Leonidas, died in the original, making a follow-up tricky.

Snyder won't officially commit until after he sees Miller's take, but he's definitely interested. Legendary considers the project a major priority.

"The vision of Frank Miller's universe that Zack Snyder brought to the screen in '300' is unlike anything ever seen before," Legendary topper Thomas Tull told Variety. "We want to be certain that the story originates with Frank and be as compelling as the first." Another "300" has been rumored from the start, but last week Snyder and the original producing team revealed the news to Collider during the Saturn Awards.

A 300 prequel could be even better. No sequel please.... :p
