It's ok I guess. nothing to get your panties in a bunch over.
Also won't people freak out over the whole a guy wearing another guys face?
I can imagine a family waiting to go see th new High School Sluts musical or some other "family friendly" movie and little Billy starts to piss himself when he eyes the poster from across the lobby. I actually saw a kid nearly piss himself over the "Why so Serious?" poster at the theater a few months ago. I also used to know a kid when I was young who was afraid of anything Disney, like the poster for The Lion King. You know , the one with the Mufasa's head in the clouds? He'd start to go batshit crazy every time he wold see it. Any who, the posters not that bad, but I've seen better.

My favorite poster of the bunch as well. I didn't like the Saw IV teaser with the medicial intrusments forming an IV. That sucked. I did like the final one with the woman in the chair.

I didn't even bother seeing Saw IV. I'm already sick and tired of this franchise. For Halloween, I'd rather stay home and watch the first flick.

Man why is this type of post not more common? I mean you can't win with horror movies anymore. I love the orignals but their production sucks yeah and story sucks too. No don't make another one leave it alone. Then when they do find something new this thread right here proves most people here are way way too picky. First saw not bloody enough. Saw 2 too much gore. Complaints after complaint. I just don't understand why if you people don't like the saga your in here? What the fuck man maybe the saw fans do wanna see this movie and not have to read post after useless post of you guys saying you hate the series and then you move on to some other thread. What if I did that to a movie you wnated to see. and all I had to is i doesn't look good. And had nothing else to offer. That would piss you off wouldn't it so stop pissing all over anticipation threads. If your not looking forward to the movie don't post just post in a thread a movie you do wanna see.

Having a poster for the 5th movie in a series be someone taking the face of the original villain (who is now dead in what was supposed to be the 'final' Saw film) put on someone else's body as a mask in order to pass them off as the same person is...kind of ironic and fitting.

I love how people bitch about the Saw series continuing whenever THE STORY IS NOT OVER. Do you people know how much in up in the air and unexplained? People frequently say "it should have ended with III." HOW??? EVERYTHING was up in the air. There was no closure whatsoever. Two main characters' fates were unknown--one being explained in the fourth Saw, and a number of things were up in the air. It just doesn't make sense. Any time there are multiple installments in a series people just bitch and whine to no end. Get over it. If you like it, great, if not then don't watch the movies! It's that simple.

I personally love the Saw series of films; to me they're good, mindless, horror fun. I also like the fact that they're becoming a "Halloween Tradition". The Saw films have become a part of the season, and that's something you don't have all that often nowadays.

It's the fact that they are mindless that bothers me. The idea that most of my peers see them as the pinnacle of horror films is a sad statement, but true. That pisses me off.

They're far, far, farrrrrrr from the "pinnacle of horror films", I would never even remotely describe them as such, but I don't go into them looking for that. I go into Saw movies hoping to turn my brain off for a few hours, and ideally be entertained while doing so. In that vein, they don't disappoint.

I think the ones that hate the Saw films are the ones who expect far too much from them.

I don't want to be the guy to read too much into a teaser poster for Saw, but I assume the idea is that someone else is taking on the "face" of Jigsaw. They're carrying on his mission, or "becoming him" after he's gone, and the mask of his face being worn symbolizes that.

I'm going to go cry for a little bit.

The Saw Sequels over time may have become mindless, without a doubt. Only single shred of logic left are their questioning of morality that has remained constant since the first one. But at the same time, they're absolutely harmless. They're like the Friday the 13th sequels for this generation. And I personally wish I had been alive to be promised a new Friday the 13th every year, but I wasn't. But now every year I get promised a Saw movie, and it's just good fun. Good ol' gory fun.

The poster is really dumb but is a cool idea for some reason. I'm definitely not looking forward to this movie and the next dozen to come.

It's hilarious whenever I re-watch the first film and think of the franchise that resulted from it. I am such a fan of Saw, but I would have loved James Wan and Leigh Whannell so much more if they pulled the plug after movie two.

Here is the new poster:

http://l.yimg.com/img.movies.yahoo.com/ymv/us/img/hv/photo/movie_pix/lions_gate_films/saw_v/sawv_gallerytheatrical.jpg

Not as good as the last one, but OK.

I hope the tagline is right because the last two endings have been underwhelming. The first ending surprised the fuck out of me, I don't care what anyone says, not many people could have seen that coming. The second ending was pretty good as well, with two pretty huge twists, with the camera being the least expected (I kind of figured out Amanda as soon as I saw her). The third ending, although a pretty good one, was not like the others. It was more of an "Oh shit, I forgot about that" when the collar went off. And the girl locked away was cool at first, but there was no follow-up whatsoever in Saw IV, so hopefully that is cleared up in V. Saw V's ending I saw coming from a mile away. Hoffman was way too suspicious throughout the entire film.

Hopefully Saw V's ending goes back to what made the first two endings so great.

The new poster looks pretty good, it looks like their taking the film back to the original gritty constant close-up feel. The tag line better be correct, Saw I and II were the only two that had endings that completely shocked me. Saw III ending was more emotionally driven while Saw VI's was so predictable. Lets hope we won't believe how it ends. I'll throw my hat and say its Gordan's return. :p

It's the fact that they are mindless that bothers me. The idea that most of my peers see them as the pinnacle of horror films is a sad statement, but true. That pisses me off.

What upsets me most about the Saw movies is the unfulfilled potential. The morality play / police procedural / brutal gore of the 1st movie was a pretty interesting combination. The police aspect was especially interesting to me, as most horror movies either ignore the cops or make them too stupid to even qualify as Keystone Cops. The first movie featured its share of police ignorance, but Danny Glover's obsession seemed a fairly valid reason for his inability to capture Jigsaw.

And then it just went downhill. As the series progressed the police are pictured as more and more incompetent and corrupt. Jigsaw isn't even becoming cleverer. He doesn't have to. He can just do whatever he wants while the cops constantly trip over themselves.

It could have been so much better. It could have seized the initial momentum and created a smarter brand of horror for today's audience. Instead it just gives us the same over-the-top slasher material that's been done to death* already.

*-pun shamelessly intended...

The clip was awesome!!! I love it and can't wait to see the entire film. there were things I didn't like about the new director take on it.

NO QUICK 360 SHOTS. Darren loved this and used it alot and I fell in love with the gritty camera technique while we hear Charlie Clousers pulse pounding score. I mean I know David Hackel will direct his vision of the next film but I can live it.

Now one thing for sure is we MUST GET TRANSITION SHOTS. Once again Darren used tons and I love them.

SAW rule is always use FLASHBACK and we must get them with bright white lighting.

Other than that it looks great and no matter what I will be their. Im a big fan of the series. I just wonder who is the NEW jigsaw? It's not Hoffman thier is someone else but who?

I mean at the end of IV Strahm called for back up and it was arriving so now Jigsaw and Amanda are dead and we have Strahm locked up in the room as well as Riggs and maybe Jeff's daughter. Now if you were FBI you would check out the entire place for survivers. So Hoffman tells the FBI in the behind the scenes "no one made it" Where are they in the couple min time frame.

Hoffman had to tell the REAL Jigsaw "maybe the pic of him on the phone we never saw in IV" take them to the house in Saw II or factory in SAW and SAW II and lock them up till I get their. Hoffman feeds them bullshit and gets away with it. It's not jill cause she is in for questioning, so who is it?

Here's my deal. See, Friday the 13th was just a slasher movie. A Shitty one at that. So, I don't care if they make one every year. Same with Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street. Blah Blah. Since the original one was shit, it doesn't matter. But SAW was a genuinely good movie. It was suspenseful, kept you guessing, and had a great twist. Then Saw 2 came, and that was exciting, but it was a let down. Now, each year, they get worse and worse and just tarnish the original's name.

Think like LOST... they know when it will end, and each episode has some sort of plot point that drives it further to the conclusion.

From a filmmaking perspective, I'm hoping Hackl breathes some life into this franchise. It seems he's ditched a bit of the flashy editing, wild 360, frenetic camera moves. But in getting rid of those, I hope the film doesn't become plain, generic, or uninteresting looking.

Then again, seeing how 4 turned out, it seems these films need more work in the writing department than in the visual department.
