That is really fucked up. He endorses him, and yet he says that McCain lied about torture to get votes? That's some contradiction up the ying yang if you ask me.

Could be to cover his own hide.

Either way to consider some your friend after jailing him for five years in you "Hanoi Hilton"...don't know how to interpret this. Too bad Hillary couldn't get him as a superdelegate.

Ah, the irony. It is hysterical to me that the right is outraged by criticism of McCain's war record.

A lot of good it did Kerry.

You should vote for the politician, not the soldier.

Why the fuck does it even matter? Doesn't make you a better person, it doesn't make you a better president. It's a selling point and people buy into it. full stop. One could even call it propaganda.

Least he has one :)

Least that's because he was old enough to fight when America was engaged in a major war.

I think it was more of a jab at Clark as he's Obama's military advisor and he's saying that "being shot down" doesn't qualify McCain in national security matters. And Hom is saying Obama has absolutely no military experience, war time or not, so what does that say about Clark? He's criticizing McCain's experience when his candidate has none, and Obama even said that Clark shouldn't have said it and he disagrees with Clark.

Either way, my point still stands.

Haha, I was just fishing. IT's important to have a record, as McCain does, for purposes of understanding the military-industrial complex, but in following what I've said numerous time, there is a solid cabinet under said president who should be more knowledgable in the first place (hence the point of ADVISORS who....ADVISE!).

The Clark thing's a joke. Whatever. It's politics.

The seemingly constant apologizing for a surrogate's comments followed by criticizing the opponent for stooping to that level has gotten so silly. Both sides are guilty of it, and they look foolish when they act like only the other is doing it.

I guess now that people are bringing up 2004...

Kerry used his war record for a completely different reason than McCain is using his. Keep in mind that in 2003-2004 there was a frequent questioning of patriotism of those who criticized or questioned the president's war policy. This was back when there were more people for the war than against. The Democrats were lucky enough to nominate someone who had a war record, but were unfortunate to nominate someone who couldn't defend his own record against the most absurd attacks. Kerry had to bring up his record to remind people that someone who had personally volunteered to fight couldn't possibly hate his country. Even this had managed to backfire because the Swift Boat Idiots for Truth were so shocked at the (true, historically indisputable) idea that troops had personally cut off the heads of Vietnamese villagers.

Being a Republican, McCain doesn't have to give a shit about people questioning his patriotism. If someone criticized his war record, everyone would go apeshit, even Democrats. This is the unbelievable double standard we still have in this country despite the declining popularity of the Republican Party due to the shitty and irresponsible leadership of Bush and company.

And speaking of Swift Boat Idiots for Truth, McCain has just hired one of them (Bud Day) to head his "Truth Squad." This despite blasting the Swift Boaters in 2004 for their treatment of John Kerry.

Gah. This election is turning McCain into a giant see through hypocrite! It's sad I actually thought the opposite of him beforehand.

I guess Presidential elections bring out the flip flops in all of us.

Morals aside, those Swifties did very well on whoever's payroll. Unfortunately, Clark doesn't seem to be quite that factor.

Yes their attacks were extremely effective.
