This was posted over at hnrnf.com, but got little response so I will re-post it here and let the big movie guns handle it:
so...why do you think so long on a sequel to Superman?
You would think with Marvel Comics killing the movie industry, WB would get off their asses and work on their 2nd biggest franchise...
Let's be honest...With the buzz about Heath Ledger's death, his clearly phenomenal Joker, Christian bale's "on-fire-ness", the successful reboot of the franchise and Christopher Nolan's awesome directing, the only thing that will keep The Dark Knight from being the biggest opening in history is the economy...so what is WB being pre-cautious about? I understand Superman Returns wasn't the major hit they'd hoped for, but its still workable...
Is it possible that they are taking a cue from Marvel's inconsistent ratio (ie...Fan4, Ghost Rider, The (old) Hulk)...that WB just wants to make sure they get it right?
I would be too afraid of the genre going stale to hold out on something like that...what do you guys think?
