I;m trying to gather all the info I can on this and I've heard a few different stories. Some film that was picked up by one of the independent divsions of a major studio was sued for their screenplay containing some actual scientific work done by the university. Appearently the writers were students or grad students who made some progress in quantum or some theory (I dont know Im not a science guy) and instead of publishing as research, they chose to design the screenplay around it. The production was dropped by the major studios, but now was picked up some other indepdent investors who want to see the film get made. There is a website for the film with the new producers, it doesnt say anything about the rumor of what info is contained in the film that is so lawsuit worthy or why anyone would want to make a film on some silly graduate student research. If the real productions couldn't do it, I don't know how some independent investors would even get it running. Interesting though. If anyone has an solid links about this, let me know.
