...with the obvious decline of older titles being put out by the major studios? If there are any, they usually tend to be only during the last few months of the year. I mean, they all still have many, many quality films in their home video archives just waiting to be rediscovered on DVD...and I'm sure there are many die hard fans of movies made before the 80s like myself who would also love to shell out the money to have them in their personal collections. So come on, folks, get off your duffs! My top 5 most coveted titles right now are The Beatles' "Let It Be," Altman's "Brewster McCloud," Polanski's "Repulsion" and "Cul-de-Sac," and Coppola's "The Rain People."

I am as somewhat disappointed as well. The studios are sitting upon a wealth of catalogue titles, but I can't blame them for being a little conservative nowadays with what they release. The golden days of DVD sales are done and sales of catalogue titles are down significantly (even new releases don't sell like they used to). Hence, why it's "safer" to continue double/triple/quadruple dip on popular sellers, then spend time and money remastering, gathering special features, mastering and ultimately marketing those titles that have YET to hit DVD for the first time.

i am bummed about this too. i gain a lot of my film knowledge through these dvd releases, especially on older titles. i hope people will be more conscious about where they spend their money. avoid all these double and triple dips of newer movies! invest in some classic gems!
