Where was John?

I was just rewatching the nice Halloween: 25 Years of Terror DVD (does this mean there'll be one for the 30th anniversary?) and I finally noticed something.
The silver anniversary convention held in Pasadena didn't seem to count John Carpenter among its impressive guest list.
There's no mention of why he didn't show up and there's no interview with him thanking the fans for 25 years of loyalty.
Since he's the one who's (rightfully) given the most credit for the first film, I wonder why he wasn't as this nice event.

After the flop that was Halloween 3 I think he & Debra Hill disowned the series.That would be my guess.

As much as I hate to say it I don't think John Carpenter has any interest in conventions or attending them. He's probably tired as it is about talking about Halloween let alone having a bunch of rabid fans in front of him. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.
