I'm not sure how many marijuana smokers/advocates are on this board, but regardless, I'm curious as to what people thought of Super High Me; or if they haven't seen it, is it a flick you have any interest in?
I personally loved the film.
It's not the most detailed telling of the pro-cannabis movement that it could have been, but then again, that wasn't the point of the movie. I think the purpose of the movie was to get people who were unfamiliar with the issues familiar with them; then, if they're interested, they can move forward on their own to learn more.
Doug Benson was the perfect choice for the film, as he's a comic so many would stereotype as a "pothead", but in portions of the film he comes across as intelligent, witty, and caring about others. Characteristics many don't associate with people who regularly light up.
All in all, I think this is a great flick, and if you haven't seen it I'd recommend it highly ( no pun intended ).
My Rating - 8/10

Well, I was interested in the film since I do like Benson and his comedy and for other reason I will not go into here. ;) But with that said, although I didn't think it was a bad movie, I didn't find it entertaining at all. He was basing his film on the Super Size Me film and it's aim to showing how devastating eating McDonald's food could be if done for an extended period of time. He was actually trying to dispel all the myths about pot smoking and do it in a comedic way. I don't think he achieved his aim as it was just dull and uneventful which is pretty much what happens when you smoke pot all the time. The movie was like smoking pot, without feeling the euphoria of it. There were some funny moments when he does his stand up and other stuff like when Sarah Silverman takes a hit off the bong but other than that, there wasn't much there. Plus, his method of smoking just bothered me. I hate it when people hold the smoke in their cheeks instead of inhaling it. It's just a fucking waste.
Anyway, I'd still say it's like a...

I totally disagree. I think he achieved the goal and kept me either laughing or thinking through the whole process. He dispelled most of the idiotic assumptions about pot and pot smokers by having professionals monitor and test him in the before and after as well is getting alot of insight from doctors and other professionals about marijuana itself. Even if you don't have an interest in Pot this movie is interesting and funny. I say give it a try.

I will definitely find a way to check this out eventually. Sounds good. I'm a light pot-smoker, it's not a regular habit or anything. Amittedly I don't know enough about the stuff as I probably should, or would like to. Certainly, this should be an interesting way to find out more.
Thanks Lawgick.

If he wasn't inhaling it then he wasn't really smoking weed now was he?

The film did hit a couple of good points, and Doug Benson is just flat-out likeable as all hell. But yeah, like eljefe said, it was just too uneventful and repetitious for what the results of Benson's pot binge turned out to be. At half an hour, it probably would've been a great watch, but it felt like a chore to be taken through Doug's journey just about day by friggin' day.
Not a bad film by any means, just one that could've used a serious trim.

^ completely agree
if it was cut right down it could have been ok, but i was really pretty disappointed with it. The guy is a huge pothead and basically requires weed constantly in order to enjoy his life, so the documentary was totally biased and not objective at all. And don't get me wrong, I enjoy a smoke. There were a few funny bits, and it was interesting to learn about the dispensaries, but i felt the standup was all very samey.
I would recommend Should I Smoke Dope? It's a BBC documentary. It's generally more informative, and in it the documentary maker goes to work in a coffeeshop in amsterdam for a few days. It's the Dampkring, which also appears at the start of Oceans 12. She discusses her positive and negative experiences while she's having them. It's probably a bit more biased in the other direction, but I found it to be a much more interesting watch.
You can watch it on youtube too;
