I'm a pretty big pro-wrestling fan, and pro wrestling news site PWInsider.com (http://www.pwinsider.com) is reporting that WWE has just signed Freddie Prinze Jr ...

"In what has to be seen as a surprising addition, actor Freddie Prinze Jr. started with World Wrestling Entertainment as a member of the creative team at today's Raw/Main Event taping in Washington, DC. Prinze, a big WWE fan, was at a number of events in recent months, including Wrestlemania weekend in Orlando, Florida and had been a "celebrity" blogger on the WWE Fan Nation online service.

Prinze Jr. starred in both Scooby Doo feature films, as well as such films as "She's All That" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer." He's married to "Buffy" star Sarah-Michelle Gellar."

I don't even have a witty remark, I'm ashamed of myself ...

They say Freddie Prinze has been a long-time wrestling fan. He's already got that advantage over the current creative team.

I think it's because Prinze Jr. has fucked of his career. He hasn't charisma, only a good physic, and it's the only way he has found to have his character on the air.

If this proves to be real, I am going to be shocked. Freddie isn't that good of an actor, and I doubt he is that good of writer. Does he honestly believe the wrestlers are going to take his ideas seriously?

Hopefully he'll step into the ring to get his ass kicked on a regular basis...:D

If he could just make WWE as awesome as that perfectly choreographed prom dance scene in She's All that, he might have a shot.

Nice.:D

At this point, if Freddie makes changes and actually breathes new life into this stale ass program, I'd give him a high five.
As long as this isn't just some dumb ass scheme by the WWE to draw attention to them, or some ridiculous ass angle.
With a potential "Scooby Doo III: Phantom Wrestler v.s. Scooby Doo" movie in the future.

No high five for you, Freddie.

Well... sort of... he actually had a career.

Hey, if Freddie's a life long wrestling fan, he's at least got that much more than the "creative" team has now.

Fuck WWE, all hail ROH!!!

"Okay so check this out. All the wrestlers start ganging up on Kane and tease him about his looks. I go along with it at first, but deep down I know it's wrong. This really gets to Kane and he "leaves" the WWE in tears. A few weeks later, he returns...with a makeover...and now he's the most handsome wrestler of them all!! I realize the error of my ways and ask him out to the big WWE Dance (to be held during WrestleMania)"

This WILL happen. Book it!

If he can come up with some new ideas that ensure the McMahons can stay off TV, I’m all for this hiring. I just hope that he hasn’t been hired to help bring in some more “Hollywood” style storylines to the WWE.

Being a writer for a wrestling league must be the easiest job in America.

INT. WRESTLING RING

Badass Jones-"I'm gonna snap you in half! In six months!"
Zygor-"We'll just see about that. In six months, at Total Domination Fire Death Rage, I'm gonna show you who the boss is around here!"
Badass Jones-"God, I'm so angry at you!"
Zygor-*clinches teeth* "You're stupid."
Badass Jones-"You're stupid! And I'll prove it. In six months."
Zygor-"Man, you're going down at Total Domination Fire Death Rage. It's going to be brutal."
Badass Jones-"Yeah, well. Yeah."

Just goes to show how much you know. It isn't as easy as you think. It is like movies, you have to find people that can work together, and creating gimmicks that people will either love or hate. I would suggest trying to play a game called Total Extreme Warfare. It has been said that it is one of the most realistic games based on wrestling ever.

It is funny people, not you, but many people, will put wrestling down, which is just like a movie. It is scripted, movies are scripted. People get hurt, stuntmen get hurt all the time. It is entertainment.

I'm not going to start a wrestling debate, but I would say that professional wrestling has more in common with daytime television and pornography than anything else. It's bottom-of-the-barrel stuff. To be honest, I can't believe that adults watch it.

How snobby of you.

From what I understand, being a writer for WWE is hell. You have to be ready 24/7.

It has an audience, and all income groups watch it, doesn't matter if you are rich or poor. Lately, it has gone in a direction that is a little out there, but it always comes back to what it is, entertainment. It is like a daytime soap, but more for guys. Why go see an action movie? They do the same things as wrestlers do, but wrestlers do it everything night.

Wrestling is a billion dollar industry, and you can even buy WWE stock. So, if it is the bottom-of-the-barrel stuff, it wouldn't be doing that well.

I would love to see you do what these people do for a living. You would have give them a lot of respect. They are on the road from 200-300 days a year, some are on the road everyday. Never see their family. Just like movies are an artform for many, wrestling is too for many.

I didn't say that wrestlers aren't gifted athletes. That's obvious. I'm talking about the writing, the actual content (not to mention the "acting"). It's one notch above Plan 9 From Outer Space and That's So Raven. I'm not being snobby; I watched wrestling religiously up until I was 15-16. I even own Undertaker comic books.

Did I just type that? I think I did.

I think the world would end if that and WWE were to combine...

The problem with this Freddie P Jr's career isn't that he's writing for wrestling, or that he has no talent, or that he pronounces words with a bit of a lisp... The problem is he never got the nickname FPJ to catch on. If he brought the FPJ thing to the public instead of just keeping it as his nickname in closed door discussions, he'd be the biggest thing out right now. He'd be playing Batman and allegedly assaulting female family members, but instead he's the next name that Vince Mcmahon is going to ignore for the next couple months before being fired. A shame really, can you imagine how funny his "Batman" voice would be?
