LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Actress Christina Applegate, famed for playing ditzy daughter Kelly Bundy on TV comedy "Married ... With Children," is fighting breast cancer, but expected to make a full recovery, her spokeswoman said on Saturday.

Applegate, 36, was diagnosed with cancer during a regular MRI, spokeswoman Ame Van Iden said in an email.
"Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery," Van Iden said.
Applegate, whose mother battled both breast and cervical cancer, has been an advocate for breast cancer research.
She rose to fame in the 1980s on "Married ... With Children," won an Emmy for a guest role as Jennifer Aniston's sister on "Friends," and now plays an amnesiac in her own sitcom, "Samantha Who?"
Applegate's cancer diagnosis was reported earlier by the Hollywood gossip TV show Extra.
Glad to hear that she's expected to make a full recovery. I've always been a fan of hers.
Of course even if I wasn't a fan I'd still be glad to hear that she's expected to make a recovery.

And a hilarious lady as well.

Good luck to her and all women facing this kind of cancer. She was at her hottest in those middle Married with Children years when she was a model. God that show was the best. The best, Jerry.

I dsagree. I think she's the best looking now than she's ever been before. She's gorgeous now. Back then she was just alright to me.

I have. Great performance from Christina in a well-written b-film, even if the male lead (Stallone's wuss son from Over The Top) was downright fucking EMBARASSING...:D

Her career hasn't gone anywhere? She's the star of a hit tv show. You might not like the show but you can hardly call her career going nowhere.

I thought she was hottest in Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead. She only looks okay-ish today. Hope she pulls through unscathed.

Over two weeks ago, we got the sad news that Christina Applegate was battling a form of breast cancer. Well, she's in the clear! In an interview airing on "Good Morning America" tomorrow, Christina said, "I'm clear. Absolutely 100 percent clear and clean. It did not spread. They got everything out, so I'm definitely not going to die from breast cancer." Thank Buck Bundy!
Christina was able to catch it early thanks to a doctor ordered MRI. She said that when she first found out she "was so mad and I -- I just remember I was -- I was just shaking - and then also immediately, I had to go into... 'take-care-of-business-mode,' which was ... I asked them, 'What do I do now? What - what is it that I do? I get a doctor, I get a surgeon, I get an oncologist? What do I do?"'
She quickly started calling around to find someone to teach her how to live macrobiotically. Does that mean she can only eat seeds, grass and berries? Can you at least drink booze on a macrobiotic diet? It's made out of natural shit, right? Just say yes!
Phew! I'm happy to hear that Christina is going to be alright. Let's all celebrate by getting off of our fat asses and doing the "Bundy Bounce" in her honor. And don't forget to say, "The newwwwwww Allante" while doing it! Clip below (skip to 9:18):
Happy to hear good news!

From MSNBC
NEW YORK - Christina Applegate is taking the long view of her battle with breast cancer — the really long view.
Speaking on ABC News’ “Good Morning America” in her first interview since announcing her diagnosis earlier this month, the “Samantha Who?” star said she had a double mastectomy three weeks ago. She’ll undergo reconstructive surgery over the next eight months.
“I’m going to have cute boobs ’til I’m 90, so there’s that,” she joked in the interview, which aired Tuesday. “I’ll have the best boobs in the nursing home. I’ll be the envy of all the ladies around the bridge table.”
The 36-year-old actress elected to remove both breasts even though the disease was contained in one breast. She said she is now cancer-free.
Applegate called the operation a logical decision. Her mother battled breast cancer, and she tested positive for the BRCA1 gene mutation linked to breast and ovarian cancer.
“I just wanted to kind of be rid of it,” she said. “So this was the choice I made and it was a tough one.”
The experience has been an emotional roller coaster, she said.
“Sometimes, you know, I cry and sometimes I scream and I get really angry and I get really like, you know, into wallowing in self-pity sometimes,” she said. “And I think that’s — it’s all part of healing, and anyone who’s going through it out there, it’s OK to cry. It’s OK to fall on the ground and just scream if you want to.”
The Emmy-nominated “Samantha Who?” star has kept her sense of humor intact.
“I’ve laughed so much in the last three weeks,” she said. “I love living, and I really love my life, and I knew that from this moment on it was only going to be good that was going to be coming. Yeah, I’ll face challenges, but you can’t get any darker than where I’ve been. So knowing that in my soul gave me the strength to just say, ‘I have to get out there and make this a positive.”’
Applegate’s cancer was detected early through a doctor-ordered MRI. She said she’s starting a program to help women at high risk for breast cancer to meet the costs of an MRI, which is not always covered by insurance.
Applegate is scheduled to appear on a one-hour TV special, “Stand Up to Cancer,” to be aired on ABC, CBS and NBC on Sept. 5 to raise funds for cancer research.
She has been nominated for an Emmy and a Golden Globe for the ABC show “Samantha Who?”, in which she plays a woman who wakes from a coma with no memory of who she is.
The lesson: Get checked early and often. Men too!
I am really happy for her. Unlike many other child stars she has a good head on her shoulders. She proves you can make a joke in any situation. I hope she is told, she has to replace them every 10 years.
I bet a bag for of nickels Katie Couric does an MRI of her boobs on tv this fall!

This is what is wrong with healthcare. I know MRI's are expensive, but money spent in prevention is better than spending money after the fact. I hope she also puts some time into getting it covered for more women too.
Women and their real boobs are important things in my life. I'd like to see all women have healthy boobs.
