First in an eagle, an airplane, and a delightful ice cream... Now a breed of spider? HUH?!

The menagerie of namesakes for Stephen Colbert, the Comedy Central host, has increased, with a spider species to be named after him, The Associated Press reported. Jason Bond, a biologist from East Carolina University, has named a newly discovered species of trapdoor spider found along the coast of California Aptostichus (ap-TAHS-tih-kus) stephencolberti. Mr. Bond, who specializes in spiders and millipedes and has also named a spider after the rock legend Neil Young, will appear on Mr. Colbert’s show on Wednesday. Already named after Mr. Colbert are a Virgin American airplane, a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor and a bald eagle hatched at the San Francisco Zoo.

This had been mentioned on the program. I cannot remember what episode. lol

If by idiot you mean a talented genius who is one of the best performers on TV than yes, you are exactly right. Colbert is a genius. This man does the news better than the actual reporters. He won a Peabody Award people! A Peabody!

How can anybody deny this man's greatness? His Esteban Colberto interview with Lou Dobbs is amazing.

I think he's hilarious; and be careful about that "Colbearth." He'll probably try to do it.

Haha. I'd love to see him campaign for something like because you know he wouldn't half ass the joke. He'd go 100% with it, haha.

What's wrong with supporting good satire? It's a rare thing to find on TV nowadays.

Oh I love satire, it's too rare, I agree. But every line he says is sarcastic and after, oh, four jokes, it's stale. Colbert is much more effective in small doses.

This makes me want to take a swig of Kaopectate. I don't have any though. Damn you.;)

Colbearth?

If you thought that up yourself... Then BRAVO!

You know, guys, if we keep supporting his shtick he'll just keep doing it...

I really hope he does. :D

I wish he was still in the presidential race... :(

Not I. I thought it was great but any more of it would have been a little TOO much.

Haha. Well Tweek, it was inspired by Zombievictims post before me so I can't take 100% credit but thanks for the acknowledgment. You're quickly becoming someone whose post I look forward too, so it's cool to be noticed haha.

Colbert is the shit and I love his show. His stuff with Stewart and Conan was genius during the writer's strike.

The Huckafued? I didn't watch all of it, but I did enjoy when they both showed up on The Colbert Report and waited outside until he finished, for example.

That's right. I used a k instead of a c. Shows just how much of a rebel I am.

Their final brawl was one of the most insane things I've ever seen and it had me cracking up.

Here's a cool little 'trailer' I found of the incident. The clips from their fight are down right some of the funniest television moments I can remember. They go nuts and you can tell they probably had a lot of fun doing this.

Colbert is not funny at all and comes off like a douchebag. I'll take the real Jon Stewart over a 2nd rate version anyday.

Sorry, zombievictim. :o

And yeah, the "k" makes you a shady character.

Oh wow. That's glorious. I laughed a good while after watching that.

In interviews I've seen he doesn't break character that often. He could very be a douchebag in reality. But as Larry King called his persona, it's Stephen Colbert 2. That interview was funny, if only for the fact that he kept slipping in and out of the Stephen Colbert 2. Freakin' pundits.
