Rated PG for thematic elements and some language.

Runtime: 100 minutes

I don't know if I've even seen a trailer for this. Sounds pretty bland though.

I saw this trailer a few months back and it looks ok, but forgettable. I might check it out on dvd if it gets decent reviews.

I have seen the trailer and I think it looks great. Big fan of Luke Wilson and Radha Mitchell and I'm a REALLY big fan of Mark Pellington's other movies. Arlington Road and The Mothman Prophecies both being EXCELLENT movies.

Arlington Road and The Mothman Prophecies both being EXCELLENT movies.

That is true. I guess we'll have to wait and see what he does with a completely different genre.

Luke Wilson sucks. He's the same charecter in every movie he's in.

Mark Pellington is one of the nicest guys I've ever met. I met him randomly at my job. I recognized him and approached him and he was just down to Earth and very cool. We talked for a bit and I complimented him on his films, which I'm a big fan of. He was really cool and probably shocked somebody recognized him. I might check this out just because he made it... he is a talented director.

I went to see Pineapple Express yesterday and this was premiering at that theater...

I don't know what I'm getting at with this, but it was funny seeing Cheryl Hines in person.
Again, I'm not sure why.

It was a pretty puny premiere (I feel bad for them), just a small strip of a red carpet and all the actors had to be in the lobby with all of us laymen lol.

Yeah, I saw the premiere too. I couldn't help but laugh a little on the inside.

It will be interesting to see how this film handles the religious material and if it actually decides to present what happens as a miracle.

Huh how can a great thriller director feel the need to make a generic comedy?

Dman... Pellington's wife died a few years ago. When I met him, he talked to me about it and I felt really bad for the guy. I can see why he would want to make a film about this subject matter. Maybe he made it for himself or his kid, I don't know... but I can see why he made it.

This looks good , it seems like it has a quiet confidence and a compassionate insight thing going on . If it's playing anywhere near me , i may have to check it out , but i'm not going out of my way to see it . That's not an insult because it's the rare film that i would go out of my way to see .

I am interested in this film , it looks very interesting , not at all generic .

9/10 Huge Thumbs Up From Me.

I really enjoyed this masterfully crafted movie. I don't use that description lightly. It features remarkable acting, writing and direction. The film delivers true drama and true emotion. Some may label the pace as slow but it's exactly how the story needed to unfold. It's amazing how a plot revolving around this concept can be presented in a way that's not heavy handed or even overly religious. Just like in life itself, the interpretations and ramifications of faith is wonderfully complex. The cynic may see coincidental happenstance but the believer will see so much more. I enjoyed how the events of this movie took on the same tone. What did we see and why? As the old saying goes…"For those who believe no explanation is necessary, for those who do not, none will suffice."

For those who believe, they'll get caught up in this tremendous, well acted story. A story about hope and what role faith and miracles of all degree play in life's journey.

SPOILER...
(A tip of the cap to the director... the scene where the image is being viewed by many and then is in jeopardy had my audience gasping and cringing just like the onlookers on screen.)

For those who do NOT believe, they'll still see a quality movie but might get cheated by their own limitations...

SPOILER...
and see nothing more then a guy that got shortchanged $30,000 for a run-down house.

I damn near loved this movie. It doesn't quite reach greatness but it comes close. It's a movie about faith that isn't remotely preachy. It might be a tad corny at times but it's a real sentimental treat. Luke Wilson gives what may very well be the best performance of his career. He's wonderful here and the supporting cast, especially Radha Mitchell, the little girl who plays Milly and Adrianna Barazza, are equally great. Hell, I was surprised by how convincing George Lopez was as a priest in a rare non comedic role for him. He's actually pretty much wasted here and is given nothing to do but he's still quite good.

I found this movie to be quite touching and wonderfully engaging. Beautifully crafted from director Mark Pellington who can add yet another good movie to his resume having done great work before in Arlington Road and The Mothman Prophecies. It's a deeply affecting tale. Definitely one of the best movies of the summer and of the year as well.

7/10

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.

Have you ever gone to the movies, seen a flick, and felt the undying urge to recommend it to everyone you speak to?

Well, that happened to me tonight, because I just got back from the theater after seeing Henry Poole Is Here.

I had seen the trailer for this a while back and thought it looked cute, but it blew my expectations out of the water.

This film is absolutely amazing. It's touching, charming, funny, and smart. The film flows so insanely well, and you're constantly intrigued throughout.

Over the 100 minutes this flick is on the screen you become attached to every character you see, and you find yourself caring about what happens to them. How many films nowadays do that?

This is a character driven piece of cinema that evokes every emotion you could possibly think of. You'll get choked up, you'll feel joy, and you'll also find yourself laughing out loud during certain moments.

It's a shame that this movie will end up getting lost in the shuffle of cinema lore, because it deserves so much better.

I very rarely go out of my way to recommend stuff, but this is a film you must go out of your way to see. It's awesome in every sense of the word.

9/10 ( Only because I never give a perfect score after one viewing )

I'm thoroughly convinced alot of the "online critics" who give such low ratings either judge a film solely off the trailer, or write it off as bad before they even walk in the door; giving the film no chance to entertain them.

I mean, they've got to keep up their "online film buff cred", right?

As I said, go out of your way to see it, it's that good a film.

Hopefully we didn't set your expectations too high !!! LOL ...

Oh, and by the way, check out the soundtrack to the film too. I obviously don't know your musical tastes, but it's a very mellow, laid back soundtrack. Great stuff all the way around.

Luke Wilson sucks. He's the same charecter in every movie he's in.

So does that so called "legend" Jack Nicholson, yet people praise him like he's one of the greatest things ever to be captured on celluloid because he can play himself over and over for decades; atleast Wilson is a fairly appealing personality.

Huh how can a great thriller director feel the need to make a generic comedy?

It's not generic, or a comedy.

It's heartbreaking, uplifting, and has a touch of humor mixed in, and I'm sure it'll be infinitely superior to far more overhyped and underachieving wastes that get nominated for best picture.

"For those who do NOT believe, they'll still see a quality movie but might get cheated by their own limitations..."

Which sums up life in general for alot of people, not just their interpretation of a particular film...and that's really the point.
