Y'know, there's a scene in The Original King of Comedy where they're all standing around on, I think, a basketball court and they're just shooting the shit. All of sudden, Bernie Mac turns the camera and starts complaining about the fact that unlike his co-stars, he doesn't have a TV Show. (At the time, Steve Harvey had The Steve Harvey Show which also featured Cedric the Entertainer, and D. L. Hughley was just in his early run of The Hughley's). He says somethin' like "How come America? Is it 'cuz you scared of me? Scared of what I'm gonna say?........Muthafuckin' right!" Cut to five years later. All his co-stars are no longer on TV and Bernie Mac not only has his own shot, but it was the most successful, critically acclaimed, longest running show of all four of them. How's that for irony?

To me.. its like playing the Marry, Fuck, Kill game... you give 3 people, who would you marry, who would you fuck, and who would you kill!
Its a senseless game, but its what you did when you were like 13-15.
So it is like... in these threads, where someone as loved and respected has passed like Bernie Mac, or George Carlin, or Heath Ledger or anyone who was awesome at life... it is just a way to kind of get past that little bit of emotion you may be feeling... cuz in all honesty, today, if it said Andy Dick has Passed Away, i doubt there would be much feeling involved by us.. but due to the fact that it is Bernie mac, a man who i think alot of us enjoyed in the films he was in, and most of us enjoyed his stand up (i think)... so its just a way of saying "Man, i wish Bernie Mac was still alive.. but if someone HAD ot have died... i would have rather seen Andy Dick have passed"
does that make sense?!?!
I mean, i certainly wish death on no one (No One being people like Andy Dick, who are just irresponsible ass holes... i mean, i do wish certain people like pedophiles and killers would die)
make sense?!

The scene that I think of him the most when it comes to movies is his monologue in Don't Be A Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, playing the cop:
"I hate your black skin. I hate your black pants. I hate black pepper. I hate black keys on a piano. I hate my gums, because they're black. I hate Whoopi Goldberg's *lips*. I hate the back of Forrest Whittaker's neck. Huh? Most of all, I hate that black-ass Wesley Snipes."

Yeah, he did. Here's something from an article I read.
"Mac suffered from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in the body's organs, but had said the condition went into remission in 2005. He recently was hospitalized and treated for pneumonia, which his publicist said was not related to the disease."

Ledger's one hit the hardest but still, rest in peace, Mr Bernie Mac. Will never forget Mr 3000, Guess Who and the Ocean's series. In the earlier two flicks, you were the only thing about the films that didn't suck.Don't forget Sir Arthur C. Clarke and Michael Turner. 2008 will be remembered as the year many people from the entertainment industry has passed away. Thanks for the memories and you'll be missed but never forgotten Bernie Mac. :(

I've been buried in a trench for the whole weekend without internet when I got the news.
Shocked just isn't the word to describe the loss of Bernie Mac. I felt righteously pissed off. He was one of my favorite parts of the Kings of Comedy. He had a delivery all his own and he was dead honest about teh way he felt about things, because he was an ordinary guy with everyman opinions and feelings toward things.
He would condone knocking a kid in the head till you saw the white meat come out and it was so violent and insane, you HAD to laugh, mainly because you know you thought of it too. Him venting his frustrations was us venting our's by proxy, which made us feel like we weren't alone in thinking bad bad thoughts.
This year the grim reaper has been most especially greedy with his harvest.

I love Bernie Mac and its an utter shame that he left us as soon as he did.

my son is gonna take this hard. Bernie Mac is one of his favorite shows. How the hell am I SUPPOSED TO TELL him this? Or just not? He's twelve. Please advise.....

Are you kidding me? This day in age, he's gonna find out; I'm surprised he doesn't know already, though this news hasn't made as big a splash over the internet that Heath Ledger's death did. I'd tell him. Better he founds out from you than some prick on the internet saying he's glad "bernie mac is dead" or something pointless like that.
