Plot Outline: Ex-con Jensen Ames (Statham) is forced by the warden of a notorious prison (Allen) to compete in our post-industrial world's most popular sport: a car race in which inmates must brutalize and kill one another on the road to victory.

Looks like a lot of fun. Might not necessarily be a good film, but it looks like it will be a good one to leave your brain at the door for a few hours and watch some full-throttle action. As long as it's better than the shit fest that was The Condemned, I will be happy.

DEATH RACE looks entertaining, but that's about it. It seems like one of those chuck your brain at the door and try your best to enjoy it, however hard that might be. I think I'll pass.

Could be fun cheese, but the cast outside of Statham and McShane is pretty lame. I mean how can you replace Stallone's hilarious performance as Machine Gun Joe with fucking boring ass Tyrese. Statham probably would've better better as Joe.

This could either be the last fun diversion of the summer, or utter crap. I'm a huge Statham and McShane fan, but with Paul WS Anderson you either get a great romp, or a piece of crap. I can't judge this yet.

gosh, every time I see this trailer, I cringe. It just looks really really bad to me. And I still can't believe Joan Allen is doing it too. I will definitely not be seeing this one.

Joan Allen is odd casting. Has she ever even played a villian before? I can't remember and that alone is intriguing enough for me to see this.

Plus, Statham is almost always entertaining to watch and Paul WS Anderson isn't as bad as people make him out to be. I really enjoyed Event Horizon, Soldier and the first Mortal Kombat.

Anyway, I love car chases and brutal violence but I can't get excited for this. Not one generic shot from the ads raises my adrenaline level one bit.

This looks like a film Anderson was born to make- an amped up, balls-out, cheese-fest. I'll probably wait for it on DVD though, unless some of my college buds drag me into it.

I realize it's a remake of sorts, but does anyone else think this is Anderson's way of making a "Twisted Metal" movie? Maybe he couldn't get the rights?

Everything about this trailer grinds me thad wrong way,"From the director of resident evil 3...",to Welcome To The Jungle,to the lame-arse "You cant kill me" kill that was PAINFULLY PREDICTABLE!!!I for one will definitely avoid this at ALL costs.

With you on that one. I usually love these kinds of flicks. But theres something about this one that just aint clickin'.

I'll probably give it a rent.

This is one of those films that won't make it into my top ten list for the year, but I will gladly see anyway cause it looks like a good way to kill 90 minutes. I enjoy most of Jason Stathams movies on some level, so my ticket is already sold.

Sorry about that,I actually found the first RE film to be mildly enteirtaining in comparison to it's sequels.Not that I am now psyched over DR for that reason-it helps a small margine,but I'll still pass.

Does anyone remember the original? Now that was a shitty movie. But sometimes there is something about those movies that you are drawn to. I will definitely check out DEATH RACE. We need movies like this that you don't really have to pay that much attention to and still really enjoy.

Death Race - 6/10

Now that was fuckin' fun. Of course this movie isn't going to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, of course it's not going to win an Oscar, of course there is going to be plenty of hokey dialogue, but that didn't stop this movie from being a fucking blast. The story is simple and straight-forward, there is no need to explain. But from what you know, what ensues is plenty of BAD-FUCKING-ASS action sequences, extremely brutal and sickly amusing violence, smokin' hot ladies, good guys, bad guys, twists, and turns. Death Race is textbook leave-your-brain-at-the-door filmmaking, and if you're looking for a solid way to kill a couple of hours, this is most definitely the flick to see.

I was kind of disappointed in Joan Allen's role. She just wasn't bitchy enough IMO. Would have liked to see more of her being evil. She's alright in it but it's not as furn a performance as I was hoping. It wasn't her fault, they just didn't give her much to do.

At times the camera was too shaky but otherwise the movie was a blast. Statham was awesome as usual.

agreed. ive been waitng for this since they annouced it. i loved 1 and 2, 3 are both solid. i just wish it also had tyrese and the guy from tokyo drift. i think it would be a cool way to tie everything together.

It was a good movie. If you just want to see a movie with a lot of explosions, which I was, then this is for you. Don't go in expecting the greatest movie ever, just expect a lot of explosions, and you will be happy.

Many of you know I wasn't excited by the aspect of this remake after I heard the news they were changing the story.

Well.. one of my friends dragged me to this last night and paid for my ticket.

I walked out pleasantly surprised.

It's campy, it's cheese, it's surprisingly not taken all too seriously.. but it's actually quite engaging and fun.

It's worth a watch.

This was just insanely fun! Easily the best pure action movie of the year. I'd go as far to say,that it's the best video-game adaptation of a video-game that doesn't exist(I stole that line from a critic). And it's definitely Anderson's best film since Event Horizon.

There's something to admire about a movie that knows exactly what it is, and makes no apologies for that. In this case, mindless,over-the-top,unpretentious,cliched,cheesy and ultraviolent popcorn entertainment. I really appreciated that the action is almost entirely practical, with the bear minimal of CGI. This means real cars with real weapons causing real destruction & mayhem.Which is something I think we do not see enough of these days. The performances are pretty damn good all around aswell, with the standouts being Jason Statham, Ian McShane and Joan Allen.

If there was one issue I had, it was that the editing was a bit too hyperkintec at times for my taste. On one hand it does help the action feel even more relentless, but on the other hand, Anderson sets up these fantastic shots that just don't get enough time to breath because there's a cut every 2-3 seconds. Other than that I fucking loved this movie, and I plan on buying it as soon as it's released on DVD.

PS: I'm officially in-love with Natalie Martinez. I mean really, that woman is painfully gorgeous.

It is what it's advertised to be, its not an oscar worthy flick but a lot more enjoyable then 97% of the bullshit that gets nominated. This movie was fun as fuck, the most I've enjoyed a movie this year so far. Jason Statham was pure awesomeness, might be the best action actor I've seen in a long long time.

This is one of 3 movies with Paul Anderson involved that I actually really dug, It wasnt the greatest of movies but I had a good time and im looking forward to seeing it on Blu Ray.

I liked the ones you listed plus Soldier. I also liked parts of Resident Evil (especially if I block out the fact that it shares a name with the video game.)
