Shane Meadows
'Somers Town'

Following on from 'Dead Man's Shoes' and 'This is England', i cannot say how happy i am to see Meadows staying small with this social study shot in stunning black and white on location in the area of North London from which the film takes its name, somers town. Thomas Turgoose, bless his socks, is a troubled runaway whose chance encounter with Marek, a quiet, sensitive Polish teenager living with his labourer father is the beginning of a life-changing friendship.

Looks like a sweet little film...

Can't wait to see it...I shall probably catch it at The Cornerhouse.

Turgoose was great in This Is England, and Meadows rarely puts a foot wrong.

I adore Romeo Brass, Dead Man's Shoes, This Is England...and also really liked Twentyfourseven. Once Upon a Time In The Midlands was relatively piss-poor but everybody is allowed at least one slip-up.

I'm just a smidgen more excited about the upcoming "Le Donk" five day feature as the Paddy Considine short always makes me laugh.

I live just outside of Manc, about five minutes away from Urbis. I'm a very proud Salfordian actually :).
